Despite low vaccination rates, countries across the African sub-continent reported few cases and Covid-related deaths
Covid-19 was expected to ravage the unvaccinated populations of Central and West African countries as the pandemic began to rip through the continent. But something curious happened – or did not happen – which has left scientists baffled.
Counties such as Sierra Leone, with eight million people and where malaria, Ebola, TB, and HIV have caused such devastation, have registered very few cases and barely any covid deaths; 123 in total, with Kamakwie district having reported just 11 cases and no deaths since the pandemic began.

Probably because the govt there was not rewarding hospitals for each positive diagnosis
Perhaps the reason they have so few deaths is that hydroxycholoroquin is used in the treatment of malaria == which is endemic in West Africa.
That’s not how you calculate mortality rate.
.
I thought this over a year ago, after studying data on Worldometer. Also deaths in India decreased remarkably after one large state that was hit hard started giving out I to the masses.
2. Also, not a lot of obesity
3. And as you point out, no testing. They wouldn't know if someone died of Covid or not.
LOL!
Yup.
How many 75+ year olds are there in Africa??? Kung Flu wiped out the old people and fat people. The average lifespan in Africa is about 60. the vat amount of kung flu deaths were over 60.
Can I get a government grant now?
Not me. It was Free Republic!!
India was also using HCQ. They used it for a preventative for malaria, but it also led to far less Covid cases.
The drug companies couldn’t get their EUA if there were cheap alternative treatment. They are pushing the jab for kids so they can keep it going. Covid has been the real big lie on steroids.
mortality rate -- noun -- The number of deaths per given unit of population over a given period of time. the ratio of deaths in an area to the population of that area; expressed per 1000 per year -- Wiktionary, Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License.

You please take the data as sourced, and calulate your version of the overal mortality rate -- be sure to show your work -- so that we can learn from you.
Data: As of 1 April 2022, 6,144,226 "official" global Covid deaths over twenty-seven months, according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center. Global population as of that date: 7.887,097,012.

I will look forward to your definition (source(s) please, and the complete calculation.
Recall maybe 6 months ago when articles about the lack of African COVID deaths hit the media and were immediately followed by the Omicron breakout in South Africa?
It’s not really a fair comparison, since Africa was using Ivermectin for River Blindness.
BBC is pushing this non peer-reviewed angle:
23 March: Nature: Morgue data hint at COVID’s true toll in Africa
Around 90% of deceased people tested at a Lusaka facility during coronavirus surges were positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, suggesting flaws in the idea of an ‘African paradox’.
by Freda Kreier
The findings have not yet been peer reviewed...
Ignoring the true extent of COVID-19 in Lusaka and beyond “is so wrong. People were ill. They’ve had their families destroyed,” says co-author Christopher Gill, a global-health specialist at Boston University in Massachusetts. One of his colleagues in Zambia died of COVID-19 while working on the project...
Although Gill and his colleagues can’t confirm that all of these people died of COVID-19, the results still stand in sharp contrast to official numbers. So far, there have been fewer than 4,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Zambia, a country of around 19 million people. Separate findings published on 10 March suggest that Zambia’s ‘excess’ deaths — those above what would usually be expected — from 1 January 2020 to the end of 2021 exceeded 80,000...
But not everyone is convinced that the Lusaka findings invalidate the idea of the African paradox. In Ethiopia, for instance, “our experience is people get infected with the virus, are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, and recover”, says Amare Abera Tareke, a physiologist at Wollo University in Dessie. “While it is difficult to ignore the current finding, we have to take it cautiously.”...

Oh what a mystery...Not.
Low vaccination rate = allow the flu to take its course.
Don’t induce panic. People go about daily living. Don’t confine self to living quarters. Determine no need for the shot, and don’t trust the shot.
poof! a miracle!
low covid numbers.
A friend of mine grew up in the Congo, his parents were missionaries from the United States. They took Hydroxychloroquine daily as did everyone else to prevent Malaria.
With the exception of South Africa, most of its in malaria zones which is treated with ivermectin. SA had COVID pretty bad.
South Africa update -- 7 April 2022
( 100,070 COVID deaths / 59,308,690 South Africans ) x 100 = 0.199 percent mortality rate. Less than two tenths of one percent over twenty-seven months.

Same can be said about our data collection over the wuhan flu.
The mystery is really quite simple. I worked in Nigeria for a few years. We all took HCQ for prevention of malaria. This drug is very effective in preventing infection by covid. It is not effective in the later stages of the disease.
Odd is it not that a nation of about 100 million people with limited medical care, least you have money do not have a covid epidemic. They all have access to HCQ for malaria for just pennies. They take it because they do not want malaria and thus few come down with covid.
