People are actually paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for “real estate” in the metaverse and it seems to be a hot trend right now being pushed by Mark Zuckerberg and others.
In fact he says it's going to be the future of his company!
I don't see the point of it...
Say one wrong word and you will be banned.
Think of it as a virtual prison.
Zukerputz needs to have something to stay busy when he is incarcerated in the Georgia state porison for election crimes
I foresee massive problems in the future with social maladies and addictions, and personality disorders galore. Should have stuck to the occasional psilocybin day in the desert
Sounds like Ready Player One. I honestly expect it to get there fairly quick and think most young people will embrace it.
Frankly, I think Ready Player One was one of the most prophetic movies ever made, and it was a very easy prediction to make.
I’m not interested and I think it won’t deliver monumental profits as envisioned by the nasty Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg is pushing it because he’s incapable of creating anything really new on his own. He stole the idea for Facebook from the Winklevoss twins.
Sounds like an intelligence tax on the wealthy that are also incredibly stupid.
No.
It’s the Next Thing. Kind of like flying cars were (and are).
I have a Occulus Quest 2 but have barely used it.
The tech is pretty impressive i just don’t really like wearing the thing.
I tried out Horizon once for a short time, it’s pretty weird talking to strangers from around the world like they are in the room right in front of me..
Dear facebook…
I’d rather go to the dentist.
Where is the red light district? Asking for bill clinton.
It sounds pointless until you figure out that it’s a perfect tool for laundering money.
“Get virtually groped by people of all cultures.”
I was very interested in cosmology a long time ago. I even followed the debate between the Big Bang and Fred Hoyle’s Steady State Theory (and panspermia).
When they got to Dark Matter, Dark energy, String Theory, M theory, they lost me. It seems that it’s getting more and more speculative, and also crazier. I tuned in on a T.V. show and a celebrity physicist was talking about infinite universes just as if their existence was an established fact.
What is going on? Maybe it’s all warranted, but I have my doubts.
I think there has been quiet acceptance of the anthropic principle, that the universe is fine-tuned both for our existence and our ability to discover the universe. At this point the argument for intelligent design and even God becomes compelling. The contrary argument is that we won the cosmic lottery, someone had to do it. The lucky us theory seems little less improbable if there are more trials, more universes, universes outside of our universe, etc.
One might be surprised, even astounded, by what efforts academics and others will go to in order to protect a left-wing ideology. It’s easier if the field in question is largely speculative. Speculative fields include cosmology, climate theory, environmentalism, and the origin and diversification of life.
Just keep off my meta-lawn . . .
I am reminded of a conversation I had with an old geezer back in the very early nineties. “What ever you do, don’t go on the internet” he said.
I don’t remember all of his reasons now. One of them, though, was because he felt it would lead to total government control of the population and loss of privacy and all of our basic rights.
It seemed silly and alarmist at the time...
...but I was younger then.
Hello P T Barnum:-)
Yes, the “totally human” Zuckerberg.
This is metaverse stuff is a dream come true for the globalist wannabe tyrants and dictators. When it evolves to the Matrix level human beings will lie in state in a dream world and will not be “wasting” the Earth’s resources. Those people WILL BE the resources!!
Sounds alot like the old ‘Second life’ which was a big floperino.
