Starting May 5, 2022, we are increasing the price of your Amazon Music Unlimited plan so we can continue to bring you new content and features. The price will change from $7.99 to $8.99, plus applicable taxes, per billing cycle.
This ticks me off, they were a great deal. Grrrr
************************************
I usually cancel everything when the price goes up and it’s no longer a good deal.
Examples such as Netflix and Youtube tv. Youtube tv was the go to streaming service at 35 bucks then they went up to 65. That’s more than I was paying for cable.
I think I’ll still keep Amazon Music at 9 bucks. It’s probably the beast deal for CD quality and Hi-Res music.
That's just one album, maybe 10 or 11 songs, many of them you ended up not liking. So you tried to choose your albums carefully. Even still, you were sometimes disappointed. I remember getting a Pablo Cruise album for some strange reason, what a stinker that was.
Now for the same money per month, you have unlimited access to millions of songs and albums. That was unconceivable back in the day.
I’ll keep amazon music for the reasons you said. It’s still the cheapest at 9 and has everything+atmos/lossless.
Netflix is starting to really push it. I only keep my Frontier tv cause you can log in and get channels streaming at this point.
Frontier’s is only a bit more than the ridiculous hulu/youtubetv prices. Everyone went to them and of course they went to cable prices, without the infrastructure costs.
For the last 10 years or so if you tried you could download for free everything on FLAC lossless. I have a playlist of around 200 songs on amazon, but I could download them for free if I had to.
Agree - still a great deal. The one thing that bothers me is how some artists or albums disappear from the service. I see song titles grayed out in playlists I have created. I think this happens with many services though.
It still is a great deal. I stream tons of music every day, probably 200 hours or more a month. For $8.99 that’s incredible. For the cost of what I used to pay for about 8 CDs per year, I can steam almost anything I want whenever I want.
I agree, but the higher the price the more piracy gets viable. A buck here or there is ok over years. I’ll keep it for now.
I’m an Amazon Prime member. I just get whatever it offers for free in music and video and shipping. We live in the sticks. Amazon makes it bearable.
But if they jack up the price too much, we’ll cancel prime altogether. We don’t absolutely need it. We have all sorts of online product sources.
The combination of prime and music for $139 a year + the new 8.99 is still a good deal, imo. It’s creeping up that ‘piracy is a better option’ though.
We also have a subscription to (gasp) Apple's combined services. Family plan for four - Apple TV, Fitness, Newsstand, Music, extra Cloud storage... all rolled into one, and we use every aspect of it. It's a good service for the price. We get our money's worth.
I hate, with a passion, going shopping other than home improvement stores and bookshops.
Having Prime means I don't have to go to any of those places. The nearest mall to me is over 30 miles away, and I shudder anytime I have to go there.
Hell, I've even ordered shampoo on Amazon just so I don't have to go to the local Walmart. If I need something, my first thought is I bet I can get that on Amazon, and I don't mind waiting two days to have it if it means I don't have to go to the store.
Same here. That said, I was flabergasted when my local town got a Harbor Freight a few months ago. Love it.
I can go on YouTube and find any song I want.
I haven't been in yet, but I just looked them up on the internet, and I may have to.
Amazon web site has excellent coding. I cancelled Amazon Prime five years ago when Amazon started using Amazon Lockers. Drivers get the products to the lockers quickly in two or three days.
There are a lot of YouTube videos comparing cheap Chinese stuff from Harbor Freight to the stuff at other stores. What’s kind of comical is that it’s pretty much all Chinese nowadays no matter where you buy it. But anyway, one by one the reviews are saying that this stuff is remarkably good for how Dirt Cheap it is. I bought their large metal tool chest a couple of years ago and I absolutely love that thing. The build quality is Rock Solid. And it was only something like seven or eight hundred dollars. I forget which
How about being honest Amazon; "Starting May 5, 2022, we are increasing the price of your Amazon Music Unlimited plan because we can, being the gorilla of retail!"
