I don’t know much about that homeowner. But I do know one thing. He talks too much.
unlike his moniker...
“I don’t know much about that homeowner. But I do know one thing. He talks too much.”
You are correct. In that situation say nothing except through a lawyer.
Yep.
There was a guy in Texas a few years back who did the same and ended being held for two years while awaiting trial.
He was acquitted but possibly never would have been in the position in the first place if he had not talked to the police and the media.
Neither are your friends.
So shut up.
Especially to the press. He even posed for photos.
FTA: "Lurch believes the teen may have chosen his home because his truck is currently in the shop, instead of in the driveway like it usually is. "Fooled him, didn't I?" Lurch asked as he laughed."
His only hope is either (a) the home invader was white, or (b) the rest of the national media doesn't pick up the story and run headlines like "Bitter Old White MAGA Supporter Shoots Troubled Black Youth and Laughs."
“I don’t know much about that homeowner. But I do know one thing. He talks too much.”
Absolutely CORRECT!
“He talks too much”
Isn’t that the truth. Can’t believe he said “I shot him again.”
He should have added “I wanted to keep blasting the POS until he was a bloody pulp, but I ran out of ammunition.”
When he was young it was OK - he would have automatically been lauded as the hero defending his property, even by the media.
Today, he will be painted as a racist who has waited years for his big chance to kill.
Yup - just read the script on the card...
“’I was terrified and in fear for my life and/or the lives of my loved one/ones. I thought I was/we were going to die.’
[now, shut up and call lawyer]”
“He talks too much.”
He’s 74.
He can tie up any legal action until it doesn’t matter anyway.
Yep.
2 statements ONLY to dispatcher/police for any shooting:
“I was in fear for my life”
&
“I am now exercising my 5th Amendment rights.”
(the latter is REQUIRED)
When in doubt, don’t speak at all except to confirm identity.
My thoughts exactly.
