TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS:
You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

He’s rolling over in his grave because when CAERGQ do this today, it is not a good thing.

So true and I’m positive he is not happy with the direction all of his hard work has gone. They always say the 2nd and 3rd generation usually destroy the business.

Using HAL feels like cheating but I couldn’t put a dent in it without some help.

The line was drawn last week. Time to call out these left wing bastards and RINOs once and for all.

Follow me, boys....

(remembering the good things, so that maybe the author isn’t so unsettled by what has become of his franchise today)

I started it and then set it aside. At first, there were too many possibilities with my usual tricks. Then I went for word endings on the longest word (fourth from last), and that opened up the entire puzzle.

The author is someone we saw earlier in the week.

I was aware of the repeated author, but I thought the quote was exceptionally timely.

I wasn't criticizing the repeated author, I was giving a clue and proof that I solved the puzzle.

I didn’t mean to sound defensive, I was just explaining how I hit on that one. I am sure you solved it, it’s too trivial to lie about, and there a ton of cryptogram solving websites, if you wanted to lie.
