I remember years ago reading excerpts from Trappers journals and other interviews of Trappers from the 1800s and several indicated that they enjoyed cat meat as one of their favorites. So I’m assuming they were talking about mountain lions or cougars or such, and as a species or genus perhaps cats do taste good... But I’ll never know that.
Almost any meat would probably be OK if you butchered and prepared it properly.
Most of the time when people complain about “gamey” venison it’s because it wasn’t gutted and cooled down quickly enough.
