All foreign leased aircraft still in Russia after the termination of Western leasing contracts have been entered into the Russian aircraft register and will remain in Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said on Thursday.
The imposition of sanctions by Western powers in response to Russia's military campaign in Ukraine forced Western leasing firms to terminate leasing contracts with Russian airlines for more than 500 aircraft. More than 400 of these are still in Russia.

This is definitely a possible outcome. The “West” is sleeping on this. Lost in the shuffle, India, China and many African countries abstained from the condemnation. The Middle East isn’t playing ball on oil production either. I don’t think the sanctions are as supported as the media would have you believe at first glance.
Russia is able to manufacture their own, I think.

I trained Aeroflot on Boeing equipment for three years. Boeing had the most to lose. They built two factories ( joint venture) in Russia to manufacture their specialized titanium parts as they had sourced their titanium from Russia. The fate of those two factories is unknown.
Boeing recently down played the situation, however they did state the parts ( titanium forgings) made would take two and a half years to three years to try and manufacture here in the states. Boeing’s B787 uses 60 tons of titanium, all of which was sourced from Russia. Boeing had to halt production of their 787 back in 2020 anyway, so time is on their side.
The biggest problem is Boeing aircraft is only 25 percent of Boeing. Their Missile and defense divisions make the most money, cruise missiles, missiles, rockets, etc…they are in a panic as they sourced 90 percent of their exotic metals from Russia…..and Vlad says again, Checkmate.
Senile Joe is an idiot, the only question is did he knowingly knee cap our aircraft, engine and defense industry or was it just plain stupidity to apply sanctions?

On another note: Airbus has announced they WILL keep buying titanium from Russia, they have no choice. Russia supplies 90 percent of the world’s titanium…

South Africa supplies the next largest amounts. Do note, South Africa stated they will not sanction Russia and will also start dropping the USD in trade.

Russia is no longer “ Soviet”. That said, I am embarrassed we have such brain dead, senile leadership.

Fact is, when senile Joe instated sanctions without a Congressional vote, he put the stake through our heart. Weaponizing the USD screwed us, it can not be undone. The idiot never realized Russia would sanction us back, crippling many of our industries, credit markets, financial institutions ( yes banks, they are losing billions), energy shortages, food shortages, dethroned the USD.
I saw an article about this a few weeks ago where it said the aircraft were likely to be written off anyway because the sanctions resulted in a break in the continuity and integrity of the service and maintenance records for the aircraft in Russia … which means they were basically worthless to any airline that would consider using them.
If Hertz rents a car to a Mexican in Los Angeles, and he drives it into Mexico, Hertz would be wise to wait until the Mexican comes back to the Los Angeles before demanding the car be returned.

I remember that during the Cold War. While Jimmy Carter was busy trying to give every country he could over to the Soviets he was STOPPED COLD with South Africa - probably the country he wanted to overthrow even more than any other, because of their white government (remember, Carter was a Democrat).
His people told him that there were only 2 COUNTRIES in the entire world where Titanium (along with several other critical elements) existed, the Soviet Union and South Africa. Overthrow South Africa, and the Cold War quickly ends, with the Soviets winning. Carter, unlike today’s Democrats, took that advice, and that’s why South Africa’s government was able to last to the end of the Cold War.
Obviously Brandon hasn’t take that into account.
