Sidney Poitier was good in the Defiant Ones, but Tony Curtis really was the bomb.
You beat me in posting speed.
I spent about 40 minutes trying to find “The Defiant Ones” (Netflix, Amazon Prime, a library, Hulu, etc.). I was all set to buy the DVD on eBay when I tried my last source — another public library we belong to. The DVD was there but has several holds on it. Then I noticed a small reference on the library page to a streaming service called “Kanopy”.
I created a new Kanopy account, logged in, and searched for the movie. Bingo! Success!
I started watching on my laptop, but then thought “I’ll bet they have a Roku app.” Sure enough, a few more minutes and I had the Kanopy on my Roku, launched the new app, used the “Link” feature to connect the Kanopy and Roku accounts, and up popped the movie on my big-screen TV! It allowed me to resume the movie on the TV where I left off on my laptop, too.
When tech works, it is really amazing.
Thanks for the recommendation for the movie. I’m about ten minutes into it and it looks good.
PS. We don’t have cable TV, so I cannot watch TCM. TCM drives me nuts, anyway, because it is not an on-demand service.
