A lawsuit that aimed to stop the Obama Presidential Center from being built in Chicago’s historic Jackson Park has been dismissed by a federal judge.
The crux of Protect Our Parks’ complaint is that under regulatory statutes, federal agencies should have considered relocating the proposed Obama center site entirely to avoid damage to the environment, according to the lawsuit. The city and Obama Foundation officials have said federal agencies closed the final review into the project because they determined the Obama center’s construction and nearby roadway fixes would not pose a “significant impact” on the environment - a finding the lawsuit says is “faulty.”
But U.S. District Judge John Robert Blakey dismissed those claims, writing that the city “did not abdicate control or ownership of the OPC site to the Obama Foundation” and that state law confirms that presidential centers, like the OPC here, confer a public benefit because they “serve valuable public purposes, including ... furthering human knowledge and understanding, educating and inspiring the public, and expanding recreational and cultural resources and opportunities.”
Protects Our Parks founder and head Herb Caplan wrote in a statement to the Tribune that the group fully expected this outcome and will appeal to the 7th Circuit.
“This is not the end of the road,” Caplan wrote. “Our many available paths of legal recourse are actually beginning not ending, and with a few unexpected surprises to come for the Defendants.”
Richard Epstein, co-counsel for the lawsuit plaintiffs, added that although Blakey’s decision left them “deeply disappointed ... there remain ongoing challenges, and we will continue to defend our position vigorously by fully presenting our evidence and arguments in court.”

Appointed by Obama. So, either bribed or blackmailed.
Well, as Barry Soetoro previously said...
“Time to eat your peas.”
There is no shortage of Baltic Avenue level real estate just a few blocks south of 60th and west of Stony Island. They could have bought those out pretty cheap.
Yup. What Obama wants, Obama gets, one way or another.
Maybe he could buy ValJar’s slums, tear them down, and build there.
This is deliberate, the destruction of the historic site of the 1893 Columbian Exposition, America’s “coming out party.” Anything to stomp on the American legacy.
It is absolutely hilarious anyone thinks Obama cares about “the people” and delicious seeing his idiot supporters face the reality that Obama serves Obama and everything he does is to further the glory and worship of the Obama,
After my aunt and mother died a few years ago, I sold my properties to my brother, and haven’t returned.
The place is a toilet.
Jackson Park is a beautiful area where people walk, picnic, play, and have various concerts. It’s a travesty to have a building on there regardless of who it is.
I can recall being maybe 12 years old before the Kennedy assassination able to freely get on a train with friends from the Beverly suburbs to the downtown station, then walk to the top of the presidential building, the highest at the time, then take in a movie then go home.
I hear that there are armed guards thru out the Michigan mile now.
A sign of things to come for sure.
God, how I pray for the election this year to turn things back around. I pray for people of all backgrounds to come together and love this land of ours and our freedoms.
It is clear to me and most people on this forum, that our gov’t entities such as the FBI and CIA are rife with corruption. Their secret mandate is to spy on us.
We’d walk every where free and safe.
You would think Obama, would step in and tell them to put it somewhere else.
Deep State wants this sitting where the White City once was.
There Goes the Neighborhood The Obama library lands on Chicago
Too bad they elected the fraud,so let him build his library
