Oscars co-host Wanda Sykes slammed the Academy, calling their actions 'gross' for allowing Will Smith to remain in the theater Sunday night after he slapped Chris Rock, a display she said made her feel 'physically ill.'
'It was sickening,' Sykes said in a televised interview on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show. 'I felt physically ill and I'm still a little traumatized by it.'
Smith, 53, stunned the audience at Dolby Theatre and millions of television viewers at Sunday night's Oscars when he marched onto the stage and slapped Rock, 57, after the comedian made a bald joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has spoken publicly about losing her hair due to alopecia.
When Smith returned to his seat, the 'King Richard' star yelled at Rock, 'Keep my wife's name out your (expletive) mouth.'
Less than an hour later, Smith won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Richard Williams - father of tennis legends Serena and Venus.

Smith should had slapped her as well.
jada was perfectly capable of defending herself without violence
her response should have been: “I have alopecia, you moron”
game, set, match
Gosh. It would be a shame if Will Smith’s career were totally ended by his lack of impulse control, propensity to violence and history of black on black crime.
Has anyone heard from Chris rock. Wonder if there is a law suit coming. Likely talking to his camp. Will smith is worth 350 million. Poor Chris rock only worth a small 60 million.
I thought the whole thing was pretty stupid.
Traumatized? This is just another indication of how soft and sheltered our society has become.
I was shocked and probably a little traumatized at the violence and anger that seemed to be condoned as the Academy didn’t remove him.
I won’t watch violent movies and certainly don’t want to see these things on television.
Now we will have an entire generation of Will Smith Jrs who think it is ok to slap someone who insults you instead of taking the high road.
‘I felt physically ill and I’m still a little traumatized by it.’
Now imagine outside where colored people are shooting/stabbing/beating/killing eachother over petty little crap each and every night. Bet that’s not so traumatizing to those elites.
Snowflake, the only violence they have ever seen is in one of their movies. I can't wait until the Antifa and BLM mobs over run the Hollywood hills and the LAPD just stands there smiling.
Spare me. She suffers no trauma watching antifa thugs beatdown innocent white people. If she had any objections she's been pretty reticent about it.
A hypocrite and attention whore of the worst kind.
As it was, I think Jada looked at Will in a way that said, "Are you going to defend me? Are you going to let Chris Rock talk to your woman like that??"
In truth a real feminist would have looked at Will and said, "Don't you dare move. I don't need your help. I can handle this." And then she could have walked up on stage herself, spoken into the microphone and said, "I have a medical condition. It's not funny. You moron." And sat down.
And Will (later) could have earned massive bonus points by saying, "I knew Jada would handle that just fine. She don't need me to defend her. That woman is strong, let me tell you."
The whole incident would have been 180 degrees different. But, since most feminists (ex. Jada) still expect men to rescue them, it went down as it did.
I haven’t always like Wanda Sykes, she has a caustic brand of humor. I still recall her saying mean things about both Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. But in this case, Wanda most likely is personally disturbed by The Slap.
In this case, Wanda most likely was personally disturbed by events surrounding The Slap.
She used to work as a writer on Chris Rock’s TV show some 20 years ago. They have been friends ever since.
And what a weigh it was!
It is all theater. Fake.
Traumatized by a slap? What a soft and sheltered society we live in.
Sykes is a black snowflake.
They’re really playing this up like it was real.
Man up, Sykes!
there is an interesting blind item about a current comedian. I am never good at guessing but it would seem like someone like Jerry Seinfeld is thinking about hanging it up.

They have to act like it’s not their culture. It’s damage control. It is their culture and she’s not the slightest bit traumatized.
Lawyers most likely wrote Smith’s apology.
