Police in New York City are hunting for a woman with bright orange hair who smashed the window of a yellow taxi with a cinder block to steal an iPhone and $40 in cash.
The brazen broad-daylight theft happened on Thursday, in midtown Manhattan.
The driver of the yellow taxi had parked his car on West 37th Street, between Ninth and 10th avenues, and left it to use the restroom.
Security camera footage showed the woman approach the car carrying the cinder block.
She hurled it at the drivers' side window, and then clambered through the broken window to steal the phone and cash.
She then ran away.
The robbery comes amid a dangerous crime wave in the once-safe city.
In February there was a 60 percent spike in incidents when compared to the same period last year.
The city's latest crime figures show there were 9,138 incidents last month, as opposed to 5,759 in February 2021 - with double-digit surges in nearly every major category.

Bozo the Brown?
“Door Clyde”…
Clyde rips off the taxi door.
Grabs the iPhone and a banana.
Moons the taxi, blows a kiss and ambles back to the pickup truck.
That doesn’t look like a woman to me.
And the big identifier is not the wig.
When I lived in New York, you left NOTHING in your car.
They would break in for a quarter.
They would break in for a soda can, to redeem for a nickel.
These thieves have a real work ethic, I tell ya.
If that’s your wife, you’ve got serious issues. Here’s hoping you’re posting from a padded room somewhere.
My God what a beastie! G.I.Gantic!
How do you get hold of a cinder block in midtown Manhattan?
Where I live people still leave the keys in their cars. No one locks their front door. It is perfectly safe any time of day or night anywhere in town.
I attribute this to a small local population and no road passing through connecting to a major (Or minor) population center. There are inconveniences to be sure. Notwithstanding, I am more than happy to make the trade off.
Wonder if the drapes match the carpet?
