WASHINGTON, Saturday, March 29.
FROM WARRENTON -- THE REBELS DRIVEN BEYOND THE RAPPAHANNOCK.
Yesterday the enemy in large force were driven from the Warrenton Railroad Junction, by Gen. SUMNER.
The TIMES' correspondent, writing from Warrenton Junction, says for two days past the rebels have been crowded steadily toward the Rappahannock. Four of the New-York Sixty-sixth, Col. PINCKNEY, were captured night before last, while on picket duty. Shots were exchanged constantly with the rebels during the day, yesterday. Two brigades of the rebels, under ELSEY, being closely pursued, retreated across the Rappahannock toward Gordonsville, and blew up the railroad bridge. The rebels are now all south of the Rappahannock River.
Snow is falling to-day.
THE "MIDDLE" MILITARY DEPARTMENT.
A Military Department, to be called the Middle Department, and to consist of the States of New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, the Eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia, and Counties of Cecil, Harford, Baltimore and Anne Arundel, in Maryland, has been created. Major-Gen. DIX, United States Volunteers, is assigned the command -- headquarters at Baltimore.
SHIPPING POINT OCCUPIED BY OUR FORCES.
By the steamer Mount Washington, which arrived from the Lower Potomac last night, we learn that about 250 men of the Excelsior Brigade crossed over yesterday, and took possession of the Shipping Point batteries. The American flag was raised there yesterday afternoon, in the presence of a large number of officers and men, one of the bands greeting its ascension to the top of the staff, which lately bore the secession flag, by playing the "Star-Spangled Banner." Aside from one or two roaming cavalry companies, the rebels have all left the neighborhood.

The number of Gloucester fishing vessels lost off George's Banks in the gale of Feb. 24 was fifteen, and the number lost Jan 1 was four. By the loss of those 19 vessels 138 men were drowned, leaving 70 widows and 147 chldren to be provided for. Contribtions are solicited for these widows and orphans.
