Ukraine has vowed to investigate after graphic videos emerged purporting to show the horrific abuse of Russian prisoners of war, including some who were shot in the legs.
“The government is taking this very seriously, and there will be an immediate investigation,” senior presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said Sunday, the Washington Examiner reported.
“We are a European army, and we do not mock our prisoners. If this turns out to be real, this is absolutely unacceptable behavior,” President Volodymyr Zelensky’s adviser added.
One clip shows what appear to be Ukrainian troops removing three Russian soldiers from a van seconds before the detainees are shot in the legs.
In another video, the faces of injured and bloodied Russians are seen after hoods are removed from their heads.
The authenticity of the harrowing footage has not been independently verified, and exactly where the videos were shot was unclear.

So is hitting occcupied, civilian apartment buildings with cruise missiles, indiscriminate shelling of residential areas, shooting unarmed evacuees, laying siege to cities and towns; cutting off electricity, water and supplies.
Obvious Russian disinformation. They’ve been doing it for years and I wouldn’t expect anything else. Of course all the Russian trolls and drones will be all over it.
Both Ukraine and the US are run by the WEF Globalists.
This is a proxy war between the US / NATO and Russia, with Ukrainian civilians caught in the middle.
I don't believe the propaganda from any side.
I know Ukrainians in Lugansk and Kyiv, that are living this nightmare.
I've known them for years and know what they say is true.
Too bad that you're just an apologist for one of the brutal dictators, that invaded another country.
Putin is not a good guy.
Neither is Zelensky or Biden.
Too bad, also, that you resort to insults, rather than defending your position with facts.
So when are you going to aggutwting for the trial of Bill Clinton and the US military members involved, for war crimes for bombing a Pharmaceutical factory in the Sudan and murdering innocent civilians in 1998, just to distract attention from his Lewinsky scandal?

My (distant) cousin is a bit of a character. At one time he was going with some chick and her ex-bf came around and my cousin just beat him up like an ugly step child. I mean bashed him black and blue and bloody.
My cousin is probably not over 5’3” but he’s probably 180 lb and all muscle, reminds one of a dwarf. So my cousin heard the guy had been talking to the girl a few months later and says “well that was fun, let me beat him to a pulp again”.
He goes up to the guy who says “not so fast hombre” pulls out a .38 special and shoots my cousin once in the knee cap. He ended up going to jail for a year or 2 and as you can guess the rematch didn’t occur.
Here is the point to my rambling story. My cousin had a hell of a long and painful recovery. He had numerous operations, walked on a cane for years. I saw him 3-4 years later and he had probably lost 40 pounds of his muscle and was pale. So these POWs are going to suffer for years, decades and even for life in many cases. Some will die.
Getting your knee cap shot is no little thing.
Thanks for that story.
You can die of infection in real world situations, too. And, yes, it’s permanently damaging.
At this point I believe very little of the reporting.
Including this story. It would have been easier to shoot them in the head and bury them.
Should the Ukrainians do these sorts of things?
No.
Should the Russians bomb apartment buildings, shell schools and stores, shoot civilians, loot stores, and invade countries which did NOTHING to them?
NO.
There are bad actors on both sides. The problem is that every single Russian soldier in Ukraine is essentially a bad actor because the war is in itself immoral.
My father fought in two wars in the U.S. Army. During the Korean War his unit retook a Korean town from the communists. He saw the local police chief beating captured locals who had supported the communists with a club. I asked him why he didn’t stop the police chief from beating the locals. His answer was, “It was his town.”
War is awful. And this story, in the grand scheme of things, is ugly but almost unimportant.
Nothing like Malmedy! Not even close but not a good thing to do.
Invade MY country and you’ll be shot and abused. Expect it.
That’s my target if I am assaulted while unarmed. A stomping kick to the knee joint will disable almost any attacker. You want to hear that joint go “crunch”.
When you are under attack (your country, that is) you can’t afford to take prisoners; they have to be guarded and fed.
Bad use of manpower and resources. Dead is better but disabled means less danger of them getting back in the fight.
Now I'm confused. Definition of Neocon:
Faith in the free market is one important belief of neocons, but even more important is their support of interventionism. In other words, neocons support actively promoting democracy around the world, even if that means using military force. Neocon is short for neoconservative, which adds the neo-, or "new," prefix to conservative. The original neocons abandoned their formerly leftist ideals in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Promoting democracy by force is no better than spreading Islam by the sword. I doubt that most FReepers want to force our system down the throats of less-than-willing foreigners. So call this reference to those with whom you disagree as neocons what it is: name calling.
Neocons are defined by their interventionist foreign policy, a foreign policy that is about to seriously damage middle class Americans. It’s not my word, it’s their word and if they aren’t comfortable with it, perhaps they should abandon their philosophy since it has produced nothing but death and destruction for decades. #MAGA
So they must tend to be the ones who make a living from or become wealthy off of wars? Daddy Warbucks? Military-industrial complex?
Yep, we can do without them.
Horrible if true. But it could just as easily have been staged Kremlin agitprop. Until the video is validated, it is meaningless.
