Tom Brady was in rush to announce he was unretiring, returning to Buccaneers

Tom Brady can’t keep a secret very long.

Brady decided to unretire and return to quarterback the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the same day that he broke his own news on Twitter, and he gave his social-media team short notice to craft the message that reverberated through the sports world on March 13.

“Once I made the decision, I knew I just wanted to get it out and move on to get ready for the season,” Brady told FoxSports.com. “So, I FaceTimed the guys to let them know I was coming back, and we discussed how best to put it out there.”

In this case, “the guys” refers to executives at Shadow Lion, a company of about 15 employees that has run Brady’s social-media accounts for years, according to the report. Shadow Lion helped craft the 53-word message (now shared more than 200,000 times on Twitter) for Brady’s approval.

How much time were they given for the biggest news of a wild NFL offseason?

“I told them, ’30 minutes?'” Brady said. “So we went back and forth on the language, chose a couple photos and, well … let’s play some football!”

Chris Godwin recently told ESPN that he and fellow Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans were given the same 30-minute heads-up by Brady via text.

“Yo…just letting y’all know…I’m coming back and I’m excited for another year,'” the text said, according to Godwin.

Shadow Lion was not in the loop on Brady’s original retirement, which led to an awkward appreciation tweet from the “TB12” brand account that the company also runs. The post was quickly deleted when Brady’s camp began denying the reporting by ESPN. Two days later, Brady retired with Shadow Lion’s help. And 40 days after that, he was back.

I like Tom Brady as an athlete, but I always ridiculed Brett Favre for his interminable retire-unretire-retire cycles.

Don’t make me ridicule you too, Brady.

I don’t watch NFL football anymore but I hope Brady plays until he is 50. He’s one of the good guys in the sport.

After being chosen 199th in the draft, Hell I’d take my wrath out on the NFL too.

Heck. How can you not admire the guy as an athlete. I think he is not only the greatest quarterback ever to play the game, I believe he is one of the greatest athletes ever to play a sport.

A will to win indeed.

And he is tough. He took hits.

Yep. GOAT, no doubt.

Still, have to say there comes a point where you put your family and your marriage first. Not judging, just saying ...

I don’t watch as well, but I wish Brady the best. 50 would be something.

Tom Brady knows inflation. Tom Brady has his preferences on inflation, he prefers it a little on the low side, but really he's goign to win football games no matter what inflation he has to deal with. Inflation does not trouble Tom Brady.

Who the heck wants to do THAT for a living?

I remember that SB game when the NYG D-line beat him into the ground the entire game - have rarely seen a QB take a beating like that. Just damn.

Speaking of football, the NFL is about to loot NYS taxpayers to the tune of at least a billion bucks...

Hochul confident Bills' stadium deal can be done by March

It earned him respect from one of their D-Line, Michael Strahan (who also greatly enjoyed inflicting the pounding) who said he was impressed that Brady got up and played each successive play as if the one before where Brady had the air forced out of him by being crushed to the turf, had not just happened.
