Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins had 10 different substances in his system when he died, Colombia's attorney general said Saturday in a statement. Hawkins, 50, was found dead in his hotel room in Bogotá on Friday night, shortly before the band was set to perform in the capital city.
Among the drugs found by a urine toxicological test performed by officials were marijuana, opioids, antidepressants and benzodiazepines, the statement said. An exact cause of death was not announced, and the National Institute of Forensic Medicine continues to investigate, the attorney general said.
The band said in a statement Friday that Hawkins' death was a "tragic and untimely loss."

It’s almost like drugs are bad for you. Someone should have told him. Oh, and 50 ain’t 20 when it comes to “partying.” Very good drummer in a decent band.
Another selfish stoner bites the dust. Drugs were more important to him than his wife and children.
They have rapid tests and some pharmacies sell them, ostensibly for parents to test their teenagers.
At any rate, benzodiazepines+opiates=stop breathing. Not good.

Lots of publicity for several reasons:
1) Foo Fighters is a popular, fairly known band among Xers and Millennials.
2) Foo Fighters recently mandated that concertgoers must be vaccinated to attend their concerts. So that brought lots of (negative IMO) publicity.
3) Hawkins was a fairly young guy, so many thought cause of death may have been from vaccine toxicity which would have been ironic seeing that the band mandated vaccines.
4) Again, fairly popular, well known band, fairly young guy, had a wife and kids, there’s a sudden death which usually means that there is some amount of publicity. Oh, and did I mention that Kurt Cobain (who committed suicide) was in a band called Nirvana and the drummer for Nirvana was David Growl who became the frontman for Foo Fighters. So the music community has been affected from several angles.
I don’t like Dave Grohl’s politics and never heard of Hawkins’ politics, but they were a good band with some great music. This wasn’t Hawkins’ first overdose, so I guess he didn’t learn from his experience. The guys was rich, worth somewhere around $50M and getting richer every day. Had a wife and kids and many guys dream job. But he’s doing heroin and Benzo’s in a Colombian hotel suite at 50 years old. Some piss poor priorities there.
I never understood addiction until a loved one, who is hardworking and trustworthy, began struggling with it.
