WASHINGTON, Tuesday, March 25.

A dispatch received here late last night, from Winchester, says that Gen. BANKS was then at Cedar Creek, two miles from Strasburgh, which he intended to take to-day.

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, March 25.

Information received here to-day, shows that our army was at Strasburgh this morning, and that the retreat of the enemy is a flight.

No details of the battle near Winchester have yet been received.

Officers of the army and correspondents were too busy yesterday pursuing the rebels to find time to give information to the public regarding the battle.

Our army camped last night several miles distant from any telegraph station.

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, March 25.

Gen. SHIELDS has received a dispatch from Major-Gen. BANKS, dated --

FIVE MILES BEYOND STRASBURGH-

The enemy are still in retreat, and our forces in hot pursuit. The loss of the rebels must have been enormous. They have abandoned wagons along the road filled with dead and dying; the houses on the route are found crowded with the wounded and dead. The dwellings in the towns adjacent to the battlefield of Sunday, are also found filled with the wounded. The inhabitants aided the rebel soldiers in carrying off their wounded during the day, and in burying them quickly as soon as dead.

Our artillery makes terrible havoc among the enemy in their flight, and the rout bids fair to be one of the most dreadful of the war.

WINCHESTER, Tuesday, March 25.

It is currently reported to-night that Gen BANKS has overtaken and destroyed 200 of JACKSON's wagons.

WINCHESTER Va., Tuesday, March 25.

The latest report from Strasburgh is to the effect that Gen. BANKS, with Gen. SHIELDS, is there, with Gen. JACKSON in sight, and a battle was expected to-day.
