The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
If you need a clue ask the group to send you a letter to your private reply.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER
Good one to start the weekend!!!!
I think the quote pertains to your pet too.
Start with word “6” and you’re off to the races at ramming speed!!!
Please and thank you, please and thank you
These are the nice words you can say
Please and thank you, please and thank you
Say them every day
May God look over him. I hope he gets well soon.
I remember going to a birthday party when I was probably around 8 years old.
The mother was Jewish, and we were all seated at the big table. There must have been 10 to 12 of us little kids.
She personally served us, and I recall vividly how each time that she’d put a piece of cake on our plate, she’s say:
“I haven’t heard any thank yous! I’m not hearing any thank yous!”
Of course, we were all saying “Thank you, Mrs Goldstein” to the point of it being a cacophony of little voices continually repeating the phrase, but that wasn’t enough for her, we had to repeat it over and over again.
I spoke to a friend the other day, for the first time, in like 25 years, and we were reminiscing about things, and you know we both brought that up.
What’s my point? Only, some parents will not bother to teach their kids or their friends about good manners when they’re growing up.
A day without “Today’s Cryptogram” is like a day without sunshine....
I would have used this as my clue:

But it might have been viewed as a spoiler.
Key Largo, I presume.
I grew up in NYC, and took the subway thousands of times. Late at night there are lots of empty cars. Before F’ing John Vliet Lindsey began the long arduous process of screwing the place up there had not been a murder on the subway in 25 years.
I thought it was ‘the big sleep’
