Say them every day
I remember going to a birthday party when I was probably around 8 years old.
The mother was Jewish, and we were all seated at the big table. There must have been 10 to 12 of us little kids.
She personally served us, and I recall vividly how each time that she’d put a piece of cake on our plate, she’s say:
“I haven’t heard any thank yous! I’m not hearing any thank yous!”
Of course, we were all saying “Thank you, Mrs Goldstein” to the point of it being a cacophony of little voices continually repeating the phrase, but that wasn’t enough for her, we had to repeat it over and over again.
I spoke to a friend the other day, for the first time, in like 25 years, and we were reminiscing about things, and you know we both brought that up.
What’s my point? Only, some parents will not bother to teach their kids or their friends about good manners when they’re growing up.
A day without “Today’s Cryptogram” is like a day without sunshine....
