DENVER (KDVR) — A man has been arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief for causing $10,000 in damage to a court at a Denver recreation center.
Arslan Guney, 71, was arrested on March 17 for making 45 marks with a permanent marker on the basketball court at the Central Park Rec Center to identify the boundaries on a court used for pickleball.

Pickle ball rocks. Not as energetic as tennis, but a good way to get in a little mild exercise.

It was the pickle ball court or a smash and grab. He chose the pickle ball court. He was quoted as stating that “I stand by my decision.”

Would they put an old man in jail for this? Yes.
Did they put mayors in jail for defacing road surfaces and street lane markings? No.
Did they put street thugs in jail for destroying statues of dead White males? No.

This would have made for a good Seinfeld episode with George’s dad being the guy getting all worked up about the boundaries.
“Out -of -bounds” arguments getting more and more heated with the guy in the fancy sweatsuit and ending up being cuffed and dragged to the police car.
So the maintenance worker destroyed he floor with solvent and they want the pickleball player to pay for refinishing. Had the maintenance guy used common sense, or even google, the floor would not require refinishing.
The fluorescent lights that are probably in use will fade the permanent marker for free.
I agree. Seems someone wanted to make a big drama out of a small mistake.
