The blight of homelessness may lead a liberal city to look for a conservative solution. If the question is, which candidate will do more to deal with the blight of homelessness, some of them obviously angry and scary, some of them, many of them, tragic and needy — then it is hard to see any candidate in a better position than the megadeveloper from Pacific Palisades, who previously served as chair of the Police Commission.
I've known him for years, and I would never bet against him. Especially not when there's shouting. Stay tuned.

Article written by Susan Estrich so reader beware. The guy could save California down the road. There’s no hope otherwise.
Estrich is like all Democrats. They turn to Republicans when adults are needed to be in charge.
Bloomberg and Rudy ran as republicans. That did not make them conservatives. Maybe on one issue, they will have a conservative view point. But like Arnold, they are probably not conservative at all. And the city government is so liberal a true conservative will get nothing done. They will attack him and slow roll him so that he gets nothing done. But everything that happens will be his fault.
Even a moderate, like a Richard Riordan, would be a huge upgrade for LA.
“Is Liberal Los Angeles Ready for a Conservative Billionaire Mayor?”
Nah..they’d rather suffer.
She has a great track record.
Riordan was a fine mayor.
What was it that Reagan said?...liberals will never vote republican. I believe that is true. The only way they’ll change their tune is when the Mexican cartels start kicking them out of their mansions. They make fun of the homeless!
Sam Yorty’s corpse would make a better Mayor.

No one person can fix a state like California, much less the nation. Whomever becomes governor will have to take a flamethrower to the bureaucracy and I do not think that can be done. The Bureaucracy will chew them up.
*Bloomberg and Rudy ran as republicans. That did not make them conservatives.*
Rudy got things done. He wood made a good POTUS.
*Even a moderate, like a Richard Riordan, would be a huge upgrade for LA.*
In 2002 Republicans nominated Bill Simon(gov. race). Simon was so bad columnist Debra Saunders supported Gray Davis. Blame the GOP base. Riordan was available. So was Bill Jones-statewide winner-Saunders supporter.
Close your eyes and hope for the best. This guy (Rick Caruso) only needs to finish in the top 2 DEMOCRATS if I’m right. The homeless issue will settle it. It ain’t going away.
It’s the top 2 primary voters that get on the ballot regardless of party affiliation. He has to run as a democrat if he has a chance. Correct me if I’m wrong.
When the election is over he can come out of the closet as a republican.

And one of the last truly likable politicians in California. Should have won the primary in 2002. Dems put their money in the GOP primary to attack Riordan because they thought they’d lose to him, and it worked.
LA's best years were under the leadership team of Mayor Yorty and Chief Parker.
a lobotomy
And Chief Parker served as the inspiration for Mr. Spock on Star Trek. :)
One of my closer pals in the world is advising on Caruso media team
He is a strong libertarian conservative and realizes
This is Los Angeles
We can’t get Steve Bannon elected here
Caruso would be a vast improvement
He’s excited they have a shot
