ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer ends 1st spacewalk with water in his helmet

Maurer and NASA astronaut Raja Chari began the spacewalk at 8:32 a.m. ET.

...Maurer experienced an issue involving the camera and light assembly on his helmet, which did not pose any threat to his safety, according to NASA. Chari assisted Maurer and they worked on a solution with mission control members on the ground, which involved some wiring. Once it was fixed, the duo began working on their spacewalk activities around 9:44 a.m. ET.

The spacewalk concluded at 3:26 p.m. ET, lasting six hours and 54 minutes. Once Maurer and Chari were back inside the air lock, water was identified in Maurer's helmet.

The mission control team on the ground asked him to collect the water and determine how much was present. Maurer sad there was an 8- to 10-inch-diameter circle of water and dampness in the vent port. About 30% to 50% of the visor was coated in water.

Try not to pee when you’re wearing your space suit.

An issue with his air supply, maybe? I’m just guessing. Condensation?

malfunctioning suit dehydrator doohickey? or too long a mission (7 hours)?

“A person could perspire and exhale 40 g of water vapour per hour when sleeping, 70 g/h when seated and 90 g/h when standing or doing housework.

“Theoretically, if the occupants didn’t leave the dwelling, slept for seven hours, sat for ten hours and stood or did housework for seven hours each could generate 1.6 Kg of moisture purely due to metabolic moisture generation.

I recall seeing a story of an astronaut with a similar problem.

His helmet filled up so much that by the time he got back inside, he had to keep his head up to keep his mouth above the water level.

What a thing it would have been, to drown in space doing a spacewalk!

I call BS. Since there is no gravity, which way is "up"?

Water in your suit could be a serious problem with no gravity. You could aspirate it and choke, or be electrocuted if it gets into electronic devices, like cameras?
