Pretty much any tornado captured on video is dramatic, but when the twister flips a truck on a highway, admittedly it garners more attention. However, when the truck then lands on its wheels and drives away?
That's exactly what we have in this extraordinary video from Elgin, Texas. A vicious line of storms hit the area in the evening hours, spawning multiple tornadoes according to KXAN News. One was captured on video by Brian Emfinger as it crossed a highway, filling the sky with debris and catching a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in its vortex. As the video above shows, the truck is flipped on its side and spun before landing back on its wheels. After what's presumably a few seconds of shock, the driver punches the gas and we see the truck drive away from the carnage. Unbelievable.

“ That is all in a day’s work in tornado country.”
Reminds me of once my bride and I were driving up to Colorado for a ski trip, and got up in the Texas panhandle. Horizon to horizo treeless flatlands of plowed fields. Saw big dust devils in the fields on both sides at the same time, which we had never seen before. Presently we came to a little town, and on the side of the water tower was painted “TORNADOS”. I go, “what, do they paint the weather report on the water tower here?” But then it hit me it was probably the name of the high school football team.
So we pulled into the Dairy Queen in the town for a quick bite, and there were a couple of (looked like) old ranchers their dusty rumpled stetsons, in a booth having their coffee, that you could hear talking. One was saying nonchalantly he was stopped at the stop sign where the farm road hit the highway on the way over, and a twister came along and threw him pickup and trailer into the bar ditch. ( Relating this with about as much excitement as having to stop for a railroad crossing or air up a tire ).
I’m sure he had a chance to set his beer down, I love that he gathered his senses at took off, if you ever go through Elgin find the Elgin sausage , dang good!
I’ll bet he also had to change his undies when he got home.
And he probably headed straight to a bar or home to change his shorts.
Insurance has all the proof they need (act of nature).
Takes a F***in’ and keeps on Truckin’
WOW.......seat belts are a great invention!
Yes, but was it the full 8 seconds?

Dont” know what kind of truck it was but need to make a commercial...tornado tough!
Only if they have comprehensive!
I hope he had a change of pants handy.
I was anticipating a tractor-trailer not a Pick-Up.
I don’t know. He was driving the truck at the end. But if the truck is on it’s side at some point does the clock stop?
These guys have no need to hang those rubber testicles on their bumper hitch.
He did well, especially considering how young he was!
“Amazingly, the driver, who storm chaser Marcus Reynolds estimated to be a 16- to 17-year-old boy, kept driving down the road. The driver suffered only a cut on his arm, according to Reynolds, who said he let the boy use his phone to call his parents.”

Somewhere I saw a pic of the truck later. That side spinning on the pavement lost a LOT of paint. Kinda funny - those red Silverados really are “silver” under the paint!
