It is what it is.
Just decided to share for people tired of the lies of the world.
This guy just lives his life. Knows how to make Mountain Dew like nobodies business.
My favorites are.....
The only way your going to learn anything is do it yourself.
By the time this gets set it will be harder than a Methodists Ministers Pecker.
Ol’ Popcorn is dead. October 5, 1946 - March 16, 2009
The rumor is that He left a stash of His Shine for the Wife to have for income as needed.
Speaking of Ministers- I worked with a Guy at a Water Company in Arkansas that was on the VFD. One day the Baptist Minister had a fire at home. When the VFD got the fire out they traced the source back to the Basement in which they found a Still setup.
Now this Baptist Minister was Preaching on Sunday that you would “Burn in }{€££” for drinking even one Beer but yet He’s making Shine in his Basement !!!
Needless to say he’s no longer the Minister of that Congregation anymore...
I’ve heard it said, “There’s drinkin’ liquor and sellin’ liquor.”
My divorced father rented a room in a house owned by two ladies whose father was the town’s chief of police and chief bootlegger. They gave dad untaxed whiskey from a cask that was five-years aged. He said it was delicious.
typical
WAS living his life.
This guy ended his life over being sentenced to the Federal Pen for illegal distillation/ production of distilled spirits, and firearms possession as a felon, as defined in Federal Statutes. Most do not know it is illegal for anyone to produce shine/ethanol distilled spirits even for personal use- and definitely not for sale.
80 gallons a year of self made beer is legal for self consumption, and again not for sale.
Popcorn Sutton was caught by Federal Agents making shine for the last time and sentenced to the Federal Pen at age 62 for that and the possession of illegal firearms, as a felon. Rather than report for prison and also diagnosed with terminal cancer— he killed himself by carbon monoxide inhalation in his old Ford Fairmont at his home.
Agree he should have been left alone to his Heritage Scots Irish tradition of storing a corn crop in liquid form that for many decades in US history was used as “money” to keep in the farming business and KEEP the land in the family.
Hank Williams, Jr wrote a tune for Popcorn, and post mortem purchased from his widow his recipe/method to develop a licensed and BONDED/taxed whiskey brand (with Popcorn’s name) under ownership of... Hank Williams, Jr. The company produced product in a square bottle black label and was sued and sequential tenderings now place it in ownership of the 2nd largest spritous distiller in the US, William Goldring’s Sazerac Company.
For the reasonably accurate story of Popcorn, his suicide and and end ownership of his creation started by Hank Williams, Jr.:

He had a fridge on his front porch full of it.
Waynesville Hwy.
PoPo didn’t care. One of his stills is at a restaurant in Hendersonville I believe. Never used. Owner has the recipe.
Thanks for that background.
