Another sign the Dem establishment fears DeSantis more than Trump

Letting the world know that the Democrats fear him more than Donald Trump at the top of the 2024 presidential ticket.

It would be hard to find a person who better represents the liberal media establishment than Thomas B. Edsall, whose career includes the Washington Post, New York Times and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In his latest column for the Times, he attempts to slam Ron DeSantis, letting the world know that the Democrats fear him more than Donald Trump at the top of the 2024 presidential ticket. But in the process of doing so, far from damaging the Florida governor with the GOP electorate and middle of the road voters, he awards DeSantis badges of honor.

Consider:

DeSantis relishes using the state to enforce his aggressive social agenda and has consistently plotted a hard-right course on issues from critical race theory to transgender rights.

For example, DeSantis sponsored and pushed through the legislature the “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees (W.O.K.E.) Act” — or the Stop Woke Act for short — which now awaits his signature.

The legislation, Florida H.B. 7, bans teaching critical race theory that suggests that

A person, by virtue of his or her race, color, national origin, or sex is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.

You do understand to many people that’s a bug and not a feature? i.e. a minus, not a plus.

Yeah it's a real bug for all the RINOs who helped rig the election and got caught with their hands in a cookie jar that was empty because the miscalculated and lost the Senate because of their stupidity.

I still enjoy Roadrunner cartoons exactly because you get to watch how Wile E. Cayote meets his end the next time he cooks up a scheme that does himself in. So it is with RINOs. I love the smell of smoked RINO buttocks. It smells like the victory they never actually wanted.

The premise is a lie. Desantis seems competent but he’s not inspirational. Trump inspired Americans to put a non politician as leader of the free world. Dems are terrified of Trump and they should be. The issues he cared about were the right issues and that’s no more clear than now. Control of the border. Mexico and the cartels are warring. Biden’s policies have lead to a new explosion in human trafficking and drug running that is killing Americans and bringing in cheap labor to be exploited by Democrats.

Dems “compassion” is like their ancestral slave traders being “compassionate” by “rescuing” Africans through slavery. Ridiculous! Covid should have taught every nation to protect its vital national needs and not to be overly dependent. Energy independence is critical. Supply chain disruptions should be over but they are not. Inflation is here. Russia is on the move, China is eyeing Taiwan, etc. Trump kept Putin and the rest contained. Trump demanded our Allies pay their fair share. Trump knew we can’t and shouldn’t police the world but the West can protect itself. He understood that strength and skin in the game is good for peace and for business. It’s just like his domestic economic policies were not sectarian vote grabs. He understood creating more winners, creating more wealth meant a stronger and healthier America.

I am not one for conspiracy but I am not above asking the question whether covid could’ve been deliberate to undermine the West so China and her allies could make their moves. If there’s anything we know about those regimes, we know they don’t care if millions die as long as their agenda moves forward.

We’re in an unfortunate situation for 2024 because we lack an inspiring candidate that can challenge Trump which we need because it looks certain Trump is not going to do the things needed to win. He must rehabilitate him image which requires moving on from 2020 and understanding that you fight smart, on your terms and your timetable, and not be so quick to overreact. I fear he’ll never accept the part he played in his re-election defeat. We cannot afford, the world cannot afford, more Democrats in power. Unfortunately 2024 may be too little too late even if it’s Trump/Desantis or whoever.

Any article like this that compares Trump and DeSantis in any way, is just the Left’s attempt to divide and conquer.
Don’t be fooled.

Trump blaming corruption for his loss is disingenuous. It was a factor, sure, but ultimately the Left lied to and scared enough people to be against Trump to squeak by (be wary of Stacy Abrams). THAT is why Republicans didn’t have a blood bath down ballot even while Trump lost. He mismanaged the closing months of the campaign. He needs to take ownership of the loss and move on to 2022 and 2024.

It’s absolutely true, by exploiting the pandemic, votes were allowed to be cast that otherwise were not legal. We now plainly see there’s no accountability under the law. Cheating or gamesmanship was not enough to insure Trump lost. Trump gave life to the orangemanbad demonizations. He gave away opportunities to solidify his progress with minority voters by letting the press and Biden get the best of him at the debates. As a result he allowed the Left to continue perpetuating the lie that MAGA is somehow an appeal to white supremacy.

But I *LIKE* mean tweets!

I do too but I also understand how they turned off purple swing voters.

You can’t win with just your base. You also need voters who may not like you very much, but loath your opponent even more.

The dems I know do fear DeSantis and hope Trump will run, figuring he will be relatively easy to beat.

“As a result he allowed the Left to continue perpetuating the lie that MAGA is somehow an appeal to white supremacy.”

Trump doesn’t really have the gift of giving a reasoned response to such attacks, he tends to stumble off into the weeds.

This was how the “he said both sides are fine people” attacks were birthed, you toss out quick throwaway answers without stressing what you want to say and the media/your polit enemies will run with it.

DeSantis won’t fare any better enemy-wise - they are vile people. But he might be better suited to articulate the issues and address solutions.

We’ll see. There may even yet be a dark horse out there, life can be surprising.

Yes, I get it and it may be uncomfortable but it’s the biggest problem the country faces and EVERYONE is a afraid to talk about it because it doesn’t get you large cheers by the crowd. Yet he does. That shows me the type of man he is. The politicians are waiting to see how things turn out before they do anything but if it ever becomes a “clear winner” they’ll be all over it (see new China hawk Rubio who barely, if ever, mentioned them before Trump won). Trump is able and willing to chart his own path, a new course. He’s a true leader.
