My rent in Brooklyn went from $2,300/mo at the time of my leasing signing in March 2021 to $3,200/mo if I want to renew my lease in April 2022.
Totally unsustainable for normal people 🤦🏽‍♂️— Yerrr. (@VibrantSoul718) March 7, 2022
I pay $650/month for 3BR/2 bath on 1/2 acre in rural red flyover country. Won’t be moving back to any blue urban hellhole.
He seems like a real character.
“could it be that most of these people moving from Blue to Red states are actually sane, right-leaning people fed up with the bullsh!t from their state of origin?”
No.
What I find a little strange is a lot of the plates I see are Texas.....I have a buddy in Atlanta and he says the same thing.
Mass, NY, NJ, VA, MI etc. all make sense but Texas? Weird
Don’t know if he’s still alive, but I have seen him on TV shows since then..................
You won’t convince anyone who is stuck on the “they’re all liberals and bring their liberal ideas with them and ruin our state.”
Too late, already happened here 40 years ago. Now it’s just accelerating.
So what, @VibrantSoul718, you're as ABNORMAL as a Resident can get.
It says he’s still alive. (75 y/o)
He retired from politics in 2015.
What did you think would happen after the eviction moratorium ended?
“Hopefully they don’t say, “This Red state is nice, but they need sensible laws about regulating rent, about quotas for LGBTQWERTY people, about the environment, about having fair taxes, about what type of car you can drive, about gun control, about... everything!”
Conservatism is relative. What would be considered conservative in some places would be downright liberal where I live. I’m sure everybody on FR would claim to be conservative. On a post the other day about gun permits several people were arguing that you should not be allowed to carry a gun without providing government with proof of training (I do not care to rehash the argument, just using it as an example). To me, their position is not conservative, but to them, because THEY think it’s necessary, it should be required.
absurdly high property taxes that essentially negate any cost-savings benefit to living there, even compared to a state like Maine
Ah got it...thanks. didn’t know that.
Socialists want to turn the world into a prison, so they can live rent free.
The Democrats are a luxury that only billionaires can afford.
You got what you voted for.
Suck it up.
Welcome to Joe Biden’s America
Read the fine print:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rent_control_in_New_York
“To qualify for rent control, a tenant must have been continuously living in an apartment since July 1, 1971, or be a qualifying family member who succeeded to such tenancy.”
Hey, don’t worry about the 7 bucks per gallon gas price and go get yourself a 50 thousand dollar electric car.
WELL JHFC! MOVE, CONFOUND IT! OR ARE YOU CONTRACTUALLY BOUND TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN?
