Dolly Parton has announced she is pulling out of this year's nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, saying she has not "earned that right."
The music icon who has been elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame explained her decision in a statement posted on her official social media pages Monday, noting she did not want to take votes away from the remaining nominees.
"Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out," she wrote.

As long as Kate Bush gets in, I don't care about the rest.
I love Ted as a person and his politics, but he has no business being in the RRHOF. 'Cat Scratch Fever' is his only song that was anywhere close to being a hit. Plus, one rarely hears anyone mention him as a musical influence. That said, the RRHOF is a joke and there are many acts already admitted who have no business being there.
Damnit FReepers, I clicked on this thread for one thing and one thing only. Grrrrr!!
Boobs?
She’s an amazing songwriter.
Say it ain’t so.
I need to break it to you gently.
Most of those singers you listed had sung songs that were WRITTEN by Dolly Parton.

Great songwriter but not a great singer.
Rock isn’t just about top 40 hits. Nugent was a giant of stadium rock in the 70’s. He was a headliner on The Midnight Special during that time period. He was big enough that lots of groups who became legends of rock opened for him—Van Halen, Rush, Foreigner, AC/DC, and Cheap Trick to name just a few.
I’m old enough to remember Nugent’s stature in the 70’s. He absolutely should be in the RRHOF.
I am boycotting not only the Bogus hall of fame, not only Cleveland, but the entire state Ohio until Tull is in the hall.
The hall is a fraud.
Nugent did have another hit with the Amboy Dukes, Journey to the Center of the Mind Still two hits don’t make a Hall Of Famer although I would bet there probably are few with just a hit or two.
For the LOLs, but there is a resemblence, I think: Emilia Clarke is Dolly Parton’s “Mini Me.”
My friend loves the RRHOF and saw Jimi Hendrix at a concert three weeks before Hendrix died. However, Steve Miller’s music is 100 times more popular today than Hendrix and Miller’s comments about the RRHOF are accurate: soppy and careless.
#34 I remember her rock n roll show she did with Ted Nugent playing the keyboards..... : )
