And, a couple of half-good tests are better than wondering if you have it.

Posting crap like this is how idiots die. Medical science isn’t perfect, but it’s getting better. We do what we can to “test”, it’s better than not doing anything.

That should be old news to everyone, but it’s not.

Thanks for your comment. It is simply stunning that there exists so much misinformation about this issue and what it does is show how much the concept of inertia plays even into the field of medicine. Everyone wants a ‘definitive test’...and if it is simple, cheap and painless, all the better. Well, there isn’t one and so the old discredited test keeps getting pushed as if it is still valid.

“I remember that the Obama health people said that PSA testing was being over done and should be restricted (along with mammograms). Glad my doctors didn’t take their advice.”

Yes. That sage advice has resulted in more prostate cancers getting discovered too late. It was allegedly given to reduce overtreatment, but I think the smokescreen was to hide the real goal - reducing costs.

On of the most underappreciated films of the 90's.
He was great as Inspector Frank Bumstead

And if you oppose that, you're anti-science!

(Shaking head...)

Thanks again for posting.

“I was under the impression prostate cancer spread slowly”

They were spreading that nonsense some years ago when they were talking about banning PSA tests.

‘This idea that PSA testing can be used to detect prostate cancer has to be one of the longest medical stories of disinformation to exist in the modern era of medicine...’

yes, very true; unfortunately, as it is a very easy, non invasive procedure,,,
