We need a strong and measured president to lead America in these precarious times. One who doesn’t bandy loose threats of annihilation or petty insults against foreign leaders on social media. One who doesn’t necessarily embrace his role as being the most polarizing figure in American politics. One who passionately rebukes the media and demolishes their lies, but remains grounded in logic, reason, and facts.
We need a leader who can’t be tied to leading America into COVID lockdowns or, right or wrong, the mythological January 6 “insurrection.” And most importantly, we need a leader that doesn’t come with the physical and mental impairments that come with 78 years of life on Earth, as Trump will be carrying in 2024.
The frontrunner for that role, it seems clear, should be Ron DeSantis. And while Trump was the right man for the presidency in his time, I hope that he will recognize that his time for that role has passed, and he will pass the torch to his natural successor.

DeSantis has no interest in being Trump’s VP. He’s got a clean slate. Why would he attach that to Trump when so many people have been brainwashed into hating Trump and will never vote for him?
Trump is going to have a primary battle on his hands. If he wins he will be bloodied. No doubt in my mind. He’s spending too much time on yesterday’s news and not enough leading now. He’s endorsed candidates for 2022 and needs to be supporting them instead of writing 3 page letters to NBC about Bill Barr.
I’m all in for Trump whenever he decides to run.
Nope! Trump should run for a variety of reasons. Firstly he has proven his policies work and he actually keeps his promises. Secondly, we can always have 8 years of Desantis after 4 more years of Trump. Thirdly, it is absolutely vital that we shove 4 more years of Trump down the Leftists’/Corporate media’s/Big Tech’s/Deep State’s throat.
They deserve to get 4 more years of Trump and to get it good and hard. I’ll be here for every last second of it.
I think Marjorie Taylor Greene would be a better candidate.
Close, but no cigar. Despite whatever faults he has, we all know who is going to be president in 2024. President Trump is a smart man and all the crap that was pulled on him, culminating in the stollen election and the treachery of people he trusted has no doubt taught him a lot.
It might take a little longer for him to internalize that the “vaccines” have now failed completely and short-circuiting long-standing protocol to rush them to market was actually not a good idea... but he will come around. Trump supporters accept him faults on and all; I think that the boos and jeering he received in Alabama last August when he told people they should take the vaccines were a wakeup call. I doubt there were many who left that rally who no longer supported him. I am fairly sure that he learned more from that rally than most of the people who attended did.
3 reasons not to foreclose on DJT:
1. His age is being worn far better by him than most in his cohort.
2. He’s the only president we’ve ever had who made every effort to do what he said he would and what all conservatives have vowed to do but didn’t.
3. The base of the conservative movement belongs to him almost exclusively.
PS: It’s not a very smart idea to sow this kind of discord.
“I need to hear more from him accepting responsibility for this failure and explaining how it will be different. I don’t expect to get it.”
Sorry about your luck. You mention some of his failures, but not his successes. We had the greatest economy in the world, we were bringing back manufacture ring, we were respected around the world (maybe feared), wiped out a large terrorist organization, bombing terrorist no matter what the country, energy independent, and the Border was secure.
There were plenty more accomplishments, so cry me a river. Imagine what could have been without an active FBI / CIA coup attempt, phony Russian Special Council full of partisan attack dogs, trumped up impeachments, spying on his presidency by intelligence agencies, and an active disinformation campaign spawning FISA warrants. Add a hostile media and you can understand my point.
1. Contrary to what you've posted, DeSantis did impose a COVID lockdown in Florida back in the spring of 2020. Watching him backpedal on this and blame others will be embarrassing, to say the least. For all her flaws, Kristi Noem was the only U.S. governor who didn't impose any COVID lockdowns.
2. If I look at Ron DeSantis' biographical profile and disregard his name and political affiliation, I see a guy who looks like a made-for-TV image of a "Deep State" political operative.
3. Related to the previous point ... If Trump has taught us anything about the U.S. political scene, it's that we should never, ever trust an Ivy League lawyer who becomes a professional politician without ever working outside government in his life.
4. Related to the previous two points ... Ron DeSantis is about as "establishment Republican" as anyone in government today. No thanks.
*Trump or nothing. Go away you ankle biting anti Trumpers.*
As I stated this my not be the place to bring it up.
*But Donald Trump was a FAILURE at staffing the Executive Branch/Now to be fair, he expected Republicans to have his back* True. 2022(this year) is important
*incredible efforts being undertaken to take down Trump/I view you as part of that
effort.* Too many stubborn freepers.
* I’ll take anybody that will stomp the chit out of these commies that are destroying our nation.* Squish them like a bug. Trump failed. Will 4 more years do it?
Can't teach an old dog new tricks.
The two most exciting pre-inaugural news stories (for me) were Michael Flynn to NATSEC and the Tulsi Gabbard SOS interview.
I posted the afternoon of 1/20/17 that Trump had 6 months to renounce the GOP and find and finance 435 MAGA people to run for the House in 2018.
My tag line for the last six months was "America will not be free until the GOP is destroyed".
Just so you know where I stand.
many of trumps picks, both administration and judicial have been a complete mess with some stabbing him in the back while ignoring the rule of law. Not sure who was feeding him information but that person better not be involved next time
Umm, the people he hired didn’t do such a great job. Do you think he’s learned from that lesson?
Before jumping to what Trump should or shouldn’t do, probably best to wait until mid-2023.. he’s a generally healthy man for 75, but his health could take a sudden turn in the next 15 months. Whether he runs or not, he’ll have a prominent role no matter what.
CPAC crowns Donald Trump over Ron DeSantis in straw poll
Meanwhile, those surveyed believe Biden will not be the Democratic Nominee for President in 2024.
Former President Donald Trump is still the king of the GOP, per a 2022 CPAC poll.
The straw poll shows 59% of CPAC attendees favor Trump in the upcoming Republican presidential primary.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, a rising GOP star and possible presidential primary contender, collected the second most votes — 28%.
Without Trump, DeSantis topped the favorability list at 61%. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Donald Trump Jr. followed in second, collecting 6% each.
A total of 2574 CPAC attendees participated in the poll. CPAC — the Conservative Political Action Conference — is a four-day gathering of conservative leaders, figures and supporters.
De Santis looks good. But Trump gets his second term. Period.
Oh, I understand your point, all right. You don't understand mine.
The President is not in charge of the hostile media, so that's a wash.
But all your other things: an active FBI / CIA coup attempt, phony Russian Special Council full of partisan attack dogs, spying on his presidency by intelligence agencies, and an active disinformation campaign spawning FISA warrants are under the DIRECT AND PERSONAL CONTROL OF THE PRESIDENT.
If you are the night watchman and you let the thieves in, you can't really say, "It was the thieves? What could I do?"
I’m totally for Trump in 2024. Among all the right reasons mentioned before, we need someone to dismantle the Deep State bureaucracy at all costs. That will come at a high political price, but there, Trump has nothing to lose.
Let Trump absorb the blows for taking down the bureaucracy (with Jim Jordan as AG), then DeSantis can have clear sailing for eight more years after that.
Think about it ...
Even without COVID in 2020, Trump had one major obstacle that he could never overcome as long as he was the incumbent: He couldn't re-create the passion of his 2016 campaign by railing against a Beltway "Swamp" that he had been living in for four years.
In 2024 he CAN mount that same anti-establishment campaign all over again ... and making public attacks against the duplicitous hacks in his own administration is a perfect element of this strategy.
I expect your plan would have given us President Pence.
