An assistant principal of a Mississippi elementary school says that he was fired after choosing to read a book about butts to a group of second graders.
Gary Road Elementary School in Byram chose to lay off Toby Price without a warning after he read Dawn McMillan's book, 'I Need a New Butt,' to seven-and eight-year-old students last week, WJTV reported.
Price confirmed he was given the boot in a Facebook post from March 7, sharing that he had been fired 'for reading an awesome book to kids'. He also created a GoFundMe page, in which he shares that 'I Need a New Butt' is a 'funny silly book' and 'a book that kids love'.
'I am just looking for some help to pay bills while I look for another job,' he further wrote. 'I have two kids with autism and another BPD. Thank you for helping. We have found an attorney and need help with the fee.'
He also told WLBT that he offered to read to students on zoom after an expected guest reader was a no-show.
'My boss told me "Go ahead and read,"' he said. 'I grabbed one of my favorite books that I had nearby, I read it to them.'
'I didn't think twice about reading it because I've never had an issue with it before,' Price added. 'There are other books that have much more suggestive material that are much more widely accepted.'
However, Hinds School District, of which Gary Road Elementary is a part of, took a dig at Price in his termination letter for causing 'unnecessary embarrassment' and blamed his 'lack of professionalism and impaired judgement,' according to WJTV.

We are of course already screwed but, unwarrantedly assuming that we still exist in 25 years when these brainwashed indoctrinated kids enter the political spectrum, we are most assuredly damned.
I would have been that age in like the late 1960’s and I guarantee we would have been laughing our “BUTTS” off listening to that book. I doubt he would have even been able to finish the book due to all the “butt” jokes the class would have been sharing.

Assistant Principle probably got fired because it was Mississippi. That probably goes on all the time in Massachusetts, etc. and is considered fine.
JUST to be thorough, I found the book and ran through it.
“Literature” it’s not, nor is it devious; it’s just a silly whimsical kinda stupid book written with ridiculous stuff the make little kids laugh and giggle.

Hope the slew of judgmental dolts on this thread will take a minute to find out what complete nincompoops they’ve been, and maybe even be ashamed of themselves, but I won’t hold my breath.
Think of what the world has become since romney ran for pres too. It was sick back then but it’s sicker now. It has us on edge now more than ever. It has parents on the look out for what is out for our children esp. in the public schools.
Look at how many educators male and female have been arrested for sexually abusing kids and the number grows daily.
I still feel this guy should have had better sense than to read a book like that.

I think that’s a sensible stance. Just because little kids think butts and farts are the zenith of humor is no reason to indulge or encourage them in it; being the adult in the room is important to getting their minds to apprehend that there are better things to read and talk about.
But here there’s an all-out lynch mob frothing away that’s already concluded this guy’s some sort of creepy gay grooming paedo abuser. For grabbing a silly, stupid, innocuous book off a stack and reading it. I’m disgusted. We used to be better than this. “Conservative” meant something of value, of nobility, of class, of principle; not torch-bearing, knuckle-dragging mouth breathers in the streets.

“Slime?” A stupid little kid’s book about some kid contemplating all the outlandish permutations of replacing his butt, with a couple fart references thrown in; you’re really going to contend — with all the other vile possibilities this besotted Earth could cough up — that this book is “slime”?
“Childish.” Yes.
“Stupid.” Somewhat.
But it’s also funny, quirky, even clever, and matches the topical fodder that tends to be the stock-in-trade of early Grade School humor.
I’m not saying this guy was a genius; I’m saying the level of knee-jerk condemnation that has erupted around here is out of all proportion, and compeltely unbecoming.
