(Vanity) Crime will increase with inflation (Vanity)
Vanity ^ | March 8, 2022 | ConservativeInPa

The impact of inflation, particularly in fuel, transportation and food, will increase crime. Criminals will use rising prices as a justification to shoplift, siphon gas, and steal cars. I am willing to bet that leftist cities will continue their trend of not prosecuting crimes. They have basically given permission to that 15 year old inner city kid steal a car after he was just told by his momma that she can't afford to give him a ride.

Those food stamps (EBT cards) don't go as far as they used to, and to some that is an open invitation to stuff steaks down their baggy jeans. It will nearly be encouraged by leftist cities that nearly advertise the fact they don't prosecute retail theft. They might as well run PSAs stating so.

Crime also increases inflation further since it makes it more expensive to do business. What say you?

Just read here or on another site that gas theft is skyrocketing. Lock your gas caps.

I suspect that in the liberal mind that shoplifting, looting, robbery, etc. is just self-checkout for poor people.

Yep. Told my son yesterday to get gas cap locks for his two old trucks.

We have an older SAAB and XTerra. Getting lock caps tomorrow.

I always thought that should be the preferred method for stealing gas. Gasoline simply has a pretty bad aftertaste.

I just filled up yesterday, then later in the day I noticed the door was open and now it won’t close. I’ve not seen that before. I’ll have to go look and see if I’m missing some or all of the tank.

Our 2014 car has a door you push to open and a non-locking gas cap. Sounds like a trip to the auto parts store is in order. But they are probably sold out of locking gas caps.

Yup.

Think about where you park and how easy it will be to steal your catalytic converter too.

My f-150 doesn’t have a gas cap. I’m a bit concerned.

I assume you’re talking about the electric F-150?
That big battery contains a LOT of valuable metals...

Carry a gun everywhere.
Enroll in a self defense insurance program.
Get a good car alarm.
Cameras around your home.

Plan ahead.

Not a chance I’ll ever own an ev.

It’s actually a 5.0 liter V-8.

Many cruise time vehicles just have a gas door and no gas cap to remove.

Is the door locked and release only accessible from inside the vehicle? My Saturn was like that.

Actually your catalytic converters are probably much more of a theft target than your on board fuel.

Precious metals prices are going ballistic.

agree 100%

at least going into the 1920s Depression, Americans valued their reputations and moral decay was not rampant
civility is no longer valued
plus
there are no consequences for criminal behavior
