Anyone that raises small livestock knows this stuff. Yeesh. I raise hunting dogs and I can tell one bark from another - from a distance and while hunting!
These ‘scientists’ and ‘researchers’ really need to get out of the lab and spend some time in The Real World.
You know, where their food actually comes from? LOL!
My great grandmother raised pigs- They all had names.
My sister had a 600 pound pig that guarded the road to the farm near Yuba City. He could tell, friend or foe, by oink or tailwag, a car 2 miles away by its sound and sound the oink alarm. If an unfriendly, he would charge the intruder and trample him. I kid you not. He lived under the bed in the house. The bed was on short stilts. I kid you not. Pigs are smarter than dogs. I was raised on a farm. These city slicker researchers are really stupid people.
They are doing it so that robots can replace farmers... obviously, farmers already know how to read their animal’s signals because they do not want their animals stressed, which causes weight loss, I’ll health, etc. But agri-robots would need something like this because they have neither intuition or experience.

Too many have graduated, planning to study “Climate Change”. They’ve run out of grants to study the weather.
