Actually, Eddie Albert the actor from Green Acres invented this bird as well as internal functions of some bombs to provide greater accuracy.

My Dad had one for years, drinking on the top of the TV. Later, he got seriously ill and was taken to the hospital. I was across the country but was told in a phone call my brother and Mother had decided to “pull the plug.” (Not my best day). When they got home from the hospital, they noticed the drinking bird had been smashed on the top of the TV. (I have drawn my own private conclusions as to the untimely demise of Dad’s drinking bird, and no one in the family has ever discussed it since).
