Journalist: Ukraine is Trying to Goad the US into World War III
Substack ^ | March 6 | Michael Tracey

The reason we know Ukrainian officials are trying to goad the US into war is because that’s exactly what they say they’re doing. There is no ambiguity here — at this very moment, a furious multi-front lobbying blitz is underway to solicit full-fledged US military intervention in Ukraine, and therefore open warfare against Russia. To put it bluntly, a foreign country’s representatives are doing all they possibly can to instigate the closest thing anyone on Earth has ever experienced to World War III.

At the forefront of this campaign is the president, Zelensky, who’s been transformed overnight into an international folk hero. His nonstop lobbying offensive included a soaring address Friday to what some media outlets ludicrously described as an “anti-war rally” in Frankfurt, Germany. Such a description is ludicrous because the headline takeaway from the rally was Zelensky passionately condemning the alleged cowardice of NATO countries — for, as yet, refusing to launch a war against Russia. “All the people who die from this day forward will also die because of you, because of your weakness,” he inveighed. In his pro-war advocacy, Zelensky uses the same clever euphemism that has now entered heavy circulation: “No Fly Zone.” At this point, everyone with a bare-minimum understanding of what a US-administered “No Fly Zone” would entail has readily acknowledged that it means direct war with Russia — and by extension a radically increased risk of nuclear annihilation.

According to Department of Energy data, the US stopped importing Russian oii two weeks ago.

And the reasons make a lot of sense—other than the obvious. The obvious being that few companies (aside from Shell, evidently) want the PR mess.

But also, who would buy oil getting shipped across an ocean to a port that probably wouldn’t unload it. At this point it would have to go to Mexico or south America and get re-flagged. That is very expensive.

While to government won’t “help”, individual brokers have already taken this step.

And...based on the data, the amount we were importing was significantly less than what the pols and the pundits are talking about. I don’t know where they are getting their numbers—but they aren’t coming from the people who record where the oil is coming from.

Of course, in the past couple of weeks the amount of non-factual reporting has far exceeded the standard method of getting facts.

Your mileage may vary. (Pun intended.)

Yes.

What will be the false flag to trigger it?

Not one thing you post changes what is unfolding.. The American uni-party poked the Russian bear for years.. They cooked up a witch hunt and accused a duly elected President with collusion.. with Russia/Putin…. I personally waited each day for some kind of reaction from the poked bear and felt great relief that ‘we the people’ did not receive a direct retaliation.

Common sense requires one to not needlessly poke a bear unprepared.. if Putin goes down he will not go down without taking as many with him as he is able.

I fully expect the response to be ‘you are a Putin supporter’.

Ukraine is none of our business, most Americans did not even know where it was in a map. It is interesting to see war mongers talk the talk, but they are not the ones risking their lives fighting in wars.
I do think Putin has some concerns about Ukraine joining NATO. I cannot blame him for that. I also see Ukraine as being a corrupt country who somehow seemed to embroil US politicians into their corruption.
It would be stupid to involve the US beyond what is being done currently.

The Mexican war was pretty much a land grab.

But, at least it was in North America.

My first inclination on seeing/hearing from an ‘expert’ in support of a total war response would be to investigate just exactly how far up the keester they are in connection with the MIC.

Their GPS must suck. They missed both potential targets by about 1/4 mile.

<>Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire; foreign aid billions threatened
<>Kiev scrambles to make amends with president-elect Trump after working to boost Clinton.
<>President Petro Poroshenko’s administration, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, insists that Ukraine stayed neutral in the presidential race.

Donald Trump wasn’t the only presidential candidate whose campaign was boosted by officials of a former Soviet bloc country.

A Politico investigation found
<><>Ukrainian govt officials helped Hillary and trashed Trump, questioning his fitness for office.
<><>They disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption
<><>They suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election.
<><>They helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers.

A Ukrainian-American operative who was consulting for the Democratic National Committee met with top officials in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington in an effort to expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race, helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia. But they were far less concerted or centrally directed than Russia’s alleged hacking and dissemination of Democratic emails.

Russia’s effort was personally directed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, involved the country’s military and foreign intelligence services, according to U.S. intelligence officials. They reportedly briefed Trump last week on the possibility that Russian operatives might have compromising information on the president-elect. And at a Senate hearing last week on the hacking, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said “I don’t think we’ve ever encountered a more aggressive or direct campaign to interfere in our election process than we’ve seen in this case.”

There’s little evidence of such a top-down effort by Ukraine. Longtime observers suggest that the rampant corruption, factionalism and economic struggles plaguing the country — not to mention its ongoing strife with Russia — would render it unable to pull off an ambitious covert interference campaign in another country’s election.

And President Petro Poroshenko’s administration, along with the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, insists that Ukraine stayed neutral in the race.

No you’re quite mistaken. Fox emphasizes that Ukraine is going to fall. They pretty much predict it every day.

Tucker Carlson so opposes any involvement.

The other night Laura Ingram was trying to tell Newt Gingrich it’s “too late” to give Ukraine military equipment.

Fox has been emphasizing the humanitarian disaster. Their real time war reporting is nonexistent.

Are the Russians TRYING to induce the assessment you describe?

Most Americans do not know where America is on a map, and that is not an exaggeration.

You stated this :

“ The last meaningful war that we had, a war we truly had to fight was the Mexican War. All the other wars after it (Including the Civil War) did not have to happen.“

If you misspoke then clarify what you wrote

“A lot of freepers want war with Russia as well.”

Wouldn’t a nuclear war be fun? Just think, we can test out our survival rations, our water storage/delivery systems, our fallout shelters, and everything else! And then we get to put on our camos, take out our ARs, and shoot commies everywhere!

How can anyone here NOT want such a war.

Russia may not be using all of its assets (nukes being an obvious example) but I believe a vast majority of its army is in and around Ukraine.

You’ll get that nuclear war with Biden and weakness a lot sooner than with Trump and strength.

WWI largely resulted from Turkey becoming “the weak man of Europe”.

“ It would be stupid to involve the US beyond what is being done currently.”

Most of us don’t want to go beyond what is being done.
We are disgusted with two things:
1 idiots on FR supporting Putin.
2 idiots in the White House who showed weakness and allowed this to happen .
