Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas.
My e bike uses a belt and not a chain.
Our family group is all ages from senior down to 20s - and we all ride e bikes. Most of us started with conventional bikes - and will never go back. The e bike is a whole different level of bike riding - can’t recommend it enough.
My daughter had to wait a year to get her new one — from Germany. We figured it was held up in transit somewhere. It has two batteries on it and is completely updated with more battery power.
There is a night-riding group in San Francisco that we are going to join - they ride at night with lights, music - dogs, kids and seniors - the first Friday of the month starting at 9 PM. I’ve seen them pass and they always look like they’re having a blast - and they always ask us to join them. We are starting next month.
But, we are lucky here (in California) to have more temperate weather so we can ride almost every day of the year - I ride even in the rain as do a lot of other people.
Sorry about your miserable weather. Hope it passes quickly and you’re able to get out again.
We have Reise-Muller’s from Germany. I bought mine off the rack, as did my son. My daughter needed a more custom one and just got her new bike - waited a year for it! My brother has another brand, I think the Gazelle. I test rode one of those and it doesn’t compare.
My son-in-law (engineer) did all of the research as to different types of bikes and this is the brand he settled on - he has a load (the one with the bucket in the front) so we can take the dogs with us (they also use it for shopping) - and my daughter just got a new low step-through. She is small and needs that type of bike.
I can’t tell you how much fun we’ve had on those bikes! We are able to go everywhere on them and they’ve never failed us. I’ve had my new one for over a year now, ride it everywhere and except for putting some air in the tires, it has worked wonderfully.
They aren’t cheap - but for us hard-core riders, it has made all the difference in the world. I load them on my Thule bike rake and GO.
Can’t wait to ride today!!

Which led me to this place I never been:

Which led me to this woods I never been:

Which led me to this deathtrap I never been:

Which led me to this graveyard I never been:

Glad a rode by there because they will soon be painted over with new stuff.
