After we saw Bryce Harper make overtures to a team in Japan, Gallo posted images of his real (if not tongue-in-cheek) LinkedIn profile as hope continues to wane that MLB players and owners will reach a new collective bargaining agreement that prevents missed games this season.

Somewhat amusingly, Gallo listed his “skills” as striking out, hitting into the shift and getting dressed weird.

“I think most hitters are pretty adamant on the shift, that they have to do something with it,” Gallo said. “I don’t really see many hitters going, ‘The shift is pretty awesome, man. They need to keep that.’ I think people understand that hitting is hard enough — but when you have guys standing in different positions where it makes it almost impossible to get hits, that makes it even harder, obviously.”

Well, last time they cancel a big chunk of the season, they didn’t recover until they broke out the steroids. So, more PEDs?
The teams and union have already agreed that the shift will no longer be allowed.
Texas Rangers have been on the bottom because they keep trading their good/best players. Gallo was the only good player they had — and they traded him. Then, their roster was ‘whodat’?
Looks like 2022 may be a shorter season.
If you’ve lived or worked in NY and also in the deep south it is twice as funny. The “What are these things?” scene with the grits reminds me of my first visit to a Waffle House.
In NYC there is more cricket played by immigrants on fields that were once used by American children playing baseball on their own. Kids don’t play the game the way they once did. The fan base is eroding and these disputes among the incredibly wealthy and the overpaid players is alienating what is left of the fan base. Then again the America hating globalists don’t see baseball fitting into their brave new world.

I haven’t heard that but I’m not sure I like the idea of banning the shift.
In the past hitters were not on capable for willing to hit to the opposite field or laying down a bunt if necessary to force the other team out of a shift.
I’ve lost a lot of interest in baseball over the years, and this is one of the reasons why.
My neighborhood has a lot of families from India, I see a lot of the kids playing Cricket in the streets. It’s not inconceivable you will start seeing Cricket making big strides here.
Do you think in more than 100 years of baseball, no one ever thought of that defensive alignment before? Coaches knew how to combat it.
