It's a typical Friday at Orange Tree Imports, a gift shop on Madison's Monroe Street — employees work and customers browse donning masks in a reality they've grown accustomed to the past two years.
Madison and Dane County will let its months-long coronavirus mask mandate expire. But Orange Tree will keep a mask requirement for staff and shoppers, said co-owner Carol "Orange" Schroeder.
Other Madison businesses appear ready to embrace what local health experts say could be the pandemic's next chapter, even after a harsh winter caused by the highly transmissible omicron variant.
Huge COVID case spikes this past winter resulted in staffing shortages that compounded an already tight labor market. And while some businesses encouraged their employees to work from home if possible, others had to close altogether.
Schroeder said she is concerned Dane County's mandate expiration is "premature." The business owner, like others in the city, worries about customers with children under the age of 5 who can't get vaccinated yet, as well as the immunocompromised.
She's also concerned about "more of a confrontation opportunity" for customers coming into the shop without masks, though she's encouraged the majority of the county is fully immunized, and customers have appeared willing to comply with local health protocols thus far.

Not going to give up my precious. O my precious mask. Not following the science.
Good, it will be an easy way to tell who has drunk the left’s kool aid - and turn around and do business with someone else.
“You can’t make me take this off !!!”
I have a simple rule when it comes to crap like this. I will refuse to patronize.
Hey, Carol? You should get acquainted with terms like “boycott” and “bankruptcy.”

We were shopping in a Nashville neighborhood yesterday. Started to walk in one shop and the lady said masks were required. We did an about face and left. No other place we’ve been here has been like that shop.
Our children have sacrificed enough: It’s time to end pointless mask mandates!
Taking action may reduce the depression, suicide ideation and impaired speech and brain development currently plaguing our children!
Why aren’t more of us challenging the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) masking recommendations for children? Despite changes in indoor masking requirements that have liberated most adults, the CDC continues to cling to unscientific COVID-19 guidelines that harm our children by keeping them masked for no good reason. In many school districts, parents have been stripped of the authority to opt-out on behalf of their children because their school officials adhere to the CDC guidelines religiously. It is time for us to take a closer look at the CDC and its decision to keep our children in masks.
Despite minuscule evidence of benefits and increasing evidence of harms—physical, mental and emotional—the CDC refuses to veer from its recommendation that children ages 2 and up should be masked indoors regardless of vaccination status. That’s also how we get the ridiculous airline guidance: “All passengers 2 years and older must wear a face mask for the duration of the flight, including during boarding and deplaning with no medical exceptions allowed.” Don’t blame the airlines (at least for the rules). Blame the CDC.

Continuing to wear a useless mask is a public statement by the masker that they lack these attributes (as far as their dirty, nasty, unhealthy bad habit goes, that is.)
Choices like that may lose a business some customers. Others will gain psycho maskers as customers. If someone chooses to continue wearing them, not my issue. Simply don’t try to take me to task for not.
That is the way it should be. Freedom of choice, not government edicts. Business should be free to require a mask or not. Individuals should have the option to chose businesses to patronize or not.
Here’s an old Candid Camera where they had people wearing masks in a business. It really freaked out the regular customers:

Freaky liberals. Nothing is dumber or more ignorant and more arrogant than a liberal.

"We hope the public will cooperate with businesses like ours who have decided to continue requiring masks" "
Our local businesses as of last Friday were allowed to be open to people not wearing masks.
Most have followed that common sense ruling.
Some stores are allowing their personnel to decide on wearing a mask or not.
Home Depot as of last Friday was one of the pyscho ones.
Customers didn't have to wear masks, however their employees even those working outside in a brisk breeze had to wear masks. Some of the masks looked like they hadn't been changed since the first 2 weeks.
Masks are mandatory in my store!
That is the way it should be. Freedom of choice, not government edicts. Business should be free to require a mask or not. Individuals should have the option to chose businesses to patronize or not.
If I see a sign on a business stating masks are required, I don’t go in. Period.
Not only is this a Midterm year, but more importantly, it's a primary year and it is long overdue for a RINO purge, especially in the state legislatures who refused to enforce voter ID and rolled over on the cheat-by-mail-in ballots.
The Rats could not have stolen anything were it not for RINO-controlled legislatures handing it to them on a platter.
Get rid of the RINOs and we will get our country back.
