Most bad habits -- including dirty, nasty, unhealthy bad habits such as smoking or wearing a mask -- take strength, commitment and courage to break.

Continuing to wear a useless mask is a public statement by the masker that they lack these attributes (as far as their dirty, nasty, unhealthy bad habit goes, that is.)
