No. Not even close. Well, I mean they may TRY to “spin it,” but won’t work. What is already obvious is that the Russkies did NOT properly prepare their logistics. And you know the saying.
No, Biteme is finished, the DemoKKKrat Party is seriously wounded. The only question now is if we have the smarts and desire to eradicate them from the face of the earth. Bannon has said this is a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to eliminate the DemoKKKrats.”
That is why I posed it to my fellow Freepers. I have not heard anyone in the gubmint or news address this.
If that compromised, crooked, demented horse’s @$$ Jie Bidet opened the spigot, itvwould collapse as fuel oriented drop
I have to think 100% Fake News. Russia’s going to start a war with no ammo??
Lots of people in Russia are defying the gov’t and protesting against the war.
There is zero supply chain for Russia for their Ukraine war. And they bought their munitions from Euro countries that can’t resupply for 3-4 months at the earliest. And they probably wouldn’t be able to resupply at all because of Euro sanctions.
Quite a while if the price of oil keeps increasing.
In the aggregate, Russia has substantial reserves of cash and gold and could stand a long war, but popular discontent has been growing in recent years due to a sense that for most Russians, the economy has been relatively stagnant.
I agree. Desert Storm showed that Russia’s equipment was little more than third-world quality, and I don’t believe it’s improved. Lots of folks think their modern MBTs, like the T-14, are comparable to the West’s MBTs, but I don’t believe it for a second.
The irony of this question is hilarious and points out that all the people, including FReepers, who claim Russia is a dangerous enemy are ignorant of the facts and are brainwashed into visceral reactions to the word “Russia”.
Russia is a small country by GDP, about $2 trillion, which is 1/10th of that of the US. Texas has a GDP of about $2 trillion. For comparison, the GDP of California is $3.5 trillion.
watch for the victory roll at the end.
“Ghost of Kiev” maybe?

I imagine that his oligarch buddies are going to show up at his dacha with some long knives pretty soon.
Putin is finished. His generals must know this. This episode has exposed their weakness to the world.
While this is painful to watch…it is good that the world knows the Russian bear is not as scary as it appeared two weeks ago. Where is the shock and awe?
Long enough.
Putin does not know or realize what he’s unleashed. Russia is doomed.
LOL. Floggers are out of service since late 1980s.
Putin just fired his military chief of staff. This is getting good...
I think VVP has spent 20 years building a moderate amount of new stuff (e.g. T-80s, SMERCH, TOR-1a, KA-52 etc) and modernizing older things (e.g. T-72’s fire control, reactive armor, 2S19s, etc.) and hanging modern weapons on old platforms (e.g. AS-23s from Tu-95s, Kaliber missiles from ships etc.)
I would like to see “Operation Food Poisoning” where we send every land mine, Javelin, Stinger, Barrett, switch blade, and mortar we can to the Ukranian freedom fighters and they use them to strip all VVP’s new toys away. Concurrently, drill baby drill to drop oil below the ~ $60/barrel he needs to break even. Broke and bereft of weapons, his own oligarchy will take care of him, ala Tony Soprano.
You are correct about the fixed cost for a standing military. Idled equipment has very little expense. But then there are the additional expenses for live fire training exercises on their bases.
But now they the cost increases jump due to fuel for increased sorties and transportation equipment repairs, loss of combat vehicles, calling up conscripts.
Also, Putin is bigly popular in Russia. His polling numbers (admittedly a biased exercise...telling a stranger that you don't like your current dictator is a death sentence) are strong, and it's the youngsters that like him least vs the older folks. The State media will prop up this war effort as a glorious exercise of Russia standing up for Russia. And if the war falters, he'll just conscript the youngsters who post their dislike on social media.
I suspect this war can go on much longer than people believe.
