Few things in life give us greater pleasure than quenching our hunger with some freshly made fast food. But whether it's a bag of hot, crispy fries, a juicy burger, or a giant slushy, more often than not, you're signing up to indulge. And you can assume that the better something tastes, the more nutritionally devastating secrets it holds.
"These four things are contributors to heart disease when consumed in excess," Goodson explained. "And typically when foods are extremely high in these categories, they are likely low in fiber and other nutrients. A good rule of thumb is that if you are eating half your daily calories and more than half of the recommended daily fat and sodium intake in one item, it is likely not the best choice."
So, based on these standards, what is the unhealthiest fast-food item in America?
And the unhealthiest fast-food item is . . . Goodson pointed to both Wendy's Big Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Triple and Shake Shack's Link Burger Triple as runner-ups, but ultimately it was the relatively new Burger King offering that took the crown. The Spicy Ch'King Deluxe Sandwich, which came out just last summer, is just about as unhealthy as an item can get. It rings in at 1,499 calories, 149 grams of total fat, and 4,755 milligrams of sodium.

Indeed - and mana doesn’t have the same rep as pizza for day-old reheating.
I’ve joked that if the Lord let the Israelites form a committee to set out requirements for mana they would have come up with something like Twinkies. No one would (still) know what was in it but it would have long shelf life.
Do I need to pray for you and your arteries? That burger was a family meal on a bun.
Pack heat...
I do
fast food bread sucks anyway
I had some digestive tract problems a few years ago and among the foods I could best tolerate were Burger King Whoppers and steamed red pastrami and mustard on a bulkie. The gastroenterologist couldn’t believe it.
I remember the occasional pronouncements by a group that called themselves “ Center for science in the public interest”. But All they basically said was that everything that you like is unhealthy for you and you should stop eating it immediately. Pizza, chicken fried steak, ice cream, even movie popcorn we’re all horribly bad for you.
Of course, they would say good things about vegetables salads and things that probably don’t taste very good.
love me some pastrami!
tofu salad? gtfo!! ;)
corned beef will be on sale 3/18!!
get some rye, some mustard...
They launched this over the summer to compete with Chick-fil-a and Popeye’s “spicy chicken sandwich”.
I tried it a handful of times, was better the first time or two, but quality has dropped off, but it’s still decent, if a bit expensive for fast food.
hard to beat Wendy.
The genre is developed for the menu board, not many are ever eaten
For a good cheap chicken sandwich? Yup - them and the McD’s are awesome.
I found this trick out though - go to BK, and get a “Rodeo Cheeseburger” - at least here in Texas it’s on the menu and $1.19 or something like that - basically a BBQ cheeseburger with an onion ring (or 3) on top. Get that and their cheap chicken sandwich - that’s lunch!
like the old carls jr western star! loved those!
