If they were capable of finding us in the first place, they can pretty much do whatever they want with us. Or so I would think.
I don't doubt that there are other life forms out there in the universe somewhere. The odds are in favor of it.
However, consider that there are many entities (human entities) who might have what they consider to be a good reason to get large numbers of people to believe they're being watched by spacemen.

The simplest answer is that there are none...at least in our galaxy. In a finite universe, someone has to be first. And it took 13.6+billion years for the Universe to come up with us.
So they come across the interstellar distances, can survive just fine for years near us in space studying our broadcasts and understanding us. And they fear us militarily...rather than say for not having any natural immunity to the pathogens in our ecosystem?

An interesting take on the alien invasion theme is the short story "The Road Not Taken" by Harry Turtledove. Interstellar travel is so easy someone in the iron age could do it but we just missed it somehow. Aliens attacked us with matchlock muskets. A few were skilled enough to get off a second shot, but not many.
The Fermi paradox is correct and makes these rants absurd.
We are from the center of the universe and other hypothetical life should be billions of years ahead of us to paraphrase Carl Sagan.
