Folks,
Due to a number of painfully obvious factors, I've decided to add an EDC firearm to my repertoire.
Firearms wise, a Sig Sauer P365 or a S&W Airweight 38 are in the lead. Yes, I know these are designed for a woman to carry in her lady-bits. However, in my situation, simply being able to return fire will be plenty 99% of the time, if not, I have other man sized weapons I can bring.
I need something to carry without fail, comfort and concealability are far and away the most important.
Gun safe wise, from time to time, I need to attend/enter places with metal detectors and need a place to temporarily stow a fire arm. Never long term, but for a couple of hours attending a sporting event, PTA meeting, something that could spiral out of control if a little person with a small brain and a tiny amount of authority discovered any subterfuge.
Any advice will be much appreciated and I hope to weigh it all over the next day or so before making a purchase.
after the first shots the rabble scatter like leaves in the fall wind. You don’t need 14 rounds.
Very snappy due to small size and light weight.
I only carry it when I can’t carry something else.
car gun safe? get a good cheap truck gun, know where it is.
I have found ak under folders behind the seat I forgot about
That’s the hope. On the other hand, they tried to chase down Rittenhouse who was carrying an AR-15. Mobs are unpredictable.
Boy, those both came HIGHLY recommended, just nudged out of the top two, but hope your question generates some good discussion because I could very well end up with that model as well!
I do not recommend 38 air weights nasty recoil for little bang
but good for ccw
Sig p938
Energetically Directed Cataclysm
Don’t leave home without one!
s&w mp shield compact is my carry and cheap
Coincidentally, I took my wife to a gun show this past weekend to look at ccw guns for her. She is small and most pistols won’t fit her hand.
It came down to the Bersa Thunder that fits best. Also, the recoil from the.380 will be more manageable than the 9mm.
Have the S&W 9 Shield+ and the .380 Ruger LCP Max. Both are great guns. Will probably get the P365 once Mrs. gets her new dishwasher.
Carry both concealed, but the Shield+ feels like a brick compared to the LCP Max. The LCP Max has a barely-there feel and can hold 10 rounds in the standard mag.
Don’t have the link, but there are good sites which allow you to overlay/ side-by-side true dimensional pictures of these guns. The P365 is a bit lighter than the Shield, if I recall.
Sig 365 and DeSantis U7 pocket holster.
460 S&W. I didn’t read what you actually posted, but you can’t go wrong.
For car carry, look at gun magnets. The gun is handy and out of sight, underneath your dashboard.
The SW is not a ladies gun. I know state police units that carry them as their undercover/plain clothes weapon.
It’s ok not to like them…but they are good firearms.
With the big increase in car theft, I wouldn’t leave a gun in the car
My normal carry is the Sig 365. I have a slight build and even it can print without a heavy cover. If I do not care it is either a Taurus TH9 or 1911. I know a lot of people look down on Taurus, I guess I got a good one never had an issue and can keep all shots on standard silhouette at 50 yards.
Great advice on the auto gun safe on the thread so I won't try to add to it. One time I had jury duty, forgot to leave the piece at home, and ended up spending the day knowing I had a loose, loaded gun under the passenger seat with only a door lock to protect it. Not a good feeling. I found out later I could have checked it at the security desk. Ugh.
What EDC gun to choose is a topic well past the limits of an internet posting. Try a bunch and select one you like is my advice. It's different for everyone. There are at least a dozen acceptable micro 9's out there alone. Clint Smith carries a full-frame 1911 (I think two, actually), and Jerry Miculek does things with revolvers I can't even describe. Since I'm neither one of those guys I just try to get in as much practice as I can. If you have to use it the police are going to take it away from you anyway, so think of it as a semi-disposable tool and not an objet d'art. All just my $0.02.
My wife has the LCP. Excellent firearm. I carry the LC9.
