Former President Trump on Tuesday called Russia's recognition of two breakaway territories in eastern Ukraine a "genius" move ahead of its military invasion.
In an interview on "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin's recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics in eastern Ukraine on Monday was "smart" and "pretty savvy."
"I went in yesterday, and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius,'" he said. "Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful."
"I said, 'How smart is that?' He's going to go in and be a peacekeeper," added Trump, who regularly praised and sought close ties with Putin during his time in office. "That's the strongest peace force. We could use that on our southern border. That's the strongest peace force I've ever seen. There were more army tanks than I've ever seen. They're going to keep peace, all right."

Putin out maneuvered him.
***********
Putin met with Xi at the Olympics. The two agreed to strengthen ties and it looks like he got Xi’s tacit support for the incursion into Ukraine and seemingly mutual agreements to cooperate in ways that counter U.S. interests. his timely and proactive move by Putin was very clever.
“That’s a big misrepresentation of his point which is made clear at the end of the article.”
But he’s absolutely right - that was a genius move by Putin. A great chess move.
Looking at this objectively, Would anybody disagree?
Like him or not, he’s running circles around the Sock Puppet and the European wienies.
I am sure Trump has been in on this all along. Those Russian peacekeepers are going in to clear out the gesarian mafia rats nest that has close ties to Biden and Hunters Ukraine schemes. The cabal has been heavily involved there forever. That’s why Joey is so upset.
I have got to WONDER. If Bernie Sanders is so fond of socialism, why doesn’t Bernie convene a working group with Putin to explore Vermont breaking away from the USA?
(of course, I am joking. But there are neighborhoods in Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco, etc. that think they are immune from the rules and laws of this Republic.)
Not really. Trump just wanted good relations. Obama put the sanctions on after the 2016 election because “Russia interfered in the election and stole Hillary’s emails”.
The GOPe piled in on sanctions just as they endorsed Mueller and he pretty much had to go along or have that be used as more evidence of his treason. Besides, it was a law passed overwhelmingly by the swamp, so he could not lift sanctions.
He never asked for them though
Sanctions were a technique the swamp used to crush one of his stated policy goals of better relations.
Trump wanted -business- competition, not a new cold war. He wanted to sell LNG, he wanted to drill oil.
Free Lvov.
See this? This is the kind of weak-ass crap we need to get past! Who gives a rats-ass "what the left thinks"?
Go on the offensive and ridicule the living $hit out of the left!
Most of real America is on our side. Stop believing what the fake news feeds you!

There were Germans in the Sudetenland (parts of Czechoslovakia) for many years.
The Climate Cretins will never allow that to happen.
“He could have said, “ no way Putin does this if I am Prez” , but NO he’s got to get all in on The Apprentice mode.”

The poster has a point. Most of America, real or otherwise, doesn’t read FR. Unfortunately they get a constant diet of fake news. They just hear that Trump said “inject bleach” to cure covid and that “Putin is a genius”.
80+ million American voted Trump. Yeah, they are spoon-fed garbage from the fake news, but that many people saw through it. The rigged election is the only thing that kept MAGA out of the White House. FR isn’t the only forum that we populate.
Yeah, I detect a bit of sarcasm from PDJT. The true test would be his opinion of Russian peacekeepers going into “...the breakaway republic of Alaska”. ;-)
The problem is in when the media is given something to run with. It’s like how I always felt bad for the Catholic folks when the Pope would say something stupid and they had to do the “what he really meant to say was” and “well, what he said in context was...” routine over and over again.
I think most of them have just given up on that by now, though.
It will be genius if the new troops hold the Ukraine Army in place while the Russian Army envelops them from the north and south Stalingrad style. The Russians would particularly like to trap and liquidate the militia.
So.... you think its a good idea if Trump is in cahoots with Putin? You do know that Putin is not the good guy in all of this, right?
Putin has learned from the criminals in DC, he is doing the same thing that the entrenched DC ruling elite have been doing for decades. They commonly misrepresent what proposed legislation will actually do by giving it some phony name to make it sound like it’s going to help the people when it truth, it does the opposite.
Yeah, me too....
Have a great evening. Louie
Yet they sure as hell begrudge us doing the same. When we talk about cutting our troop levels there or cutting our massive contributions to the UN or when we don't agree to commit economic suicide in the name of Gaia Worship they pitch a fit.
MountainDad’s tagline says it all: “A strong man stands up for himself. A stronger man stands up for others. Support your local militia.”
The National Guard is the “organized militia” but the rest of us make up the “unorganized militia” or the Irregulars. Yeah, you, and your neighbors.
There once were regular militia musters on the town common, with attendance by all able-bodied males mandatory. Today, the media has disparaged even the word Militia as something subversive and dangerous. No, we are not.
All U.S. veterans, reservists and actives swore an Oath, not to defend the United States but to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and bear true faith and allegiance to same”. Article I recognizes and regulates the militia. Time to read it again.
