Russian Troops at Ukraine's Border Face 'Nightmare' Living Conditions
Moscow Times ^ | Feb 21 2022

Russian troops stationed in the town of Dolbino near the Ukrainian border have been living in “nightmare” conditions, sleeping on cramped floors and going without military food rations for days, according to social media reports and rights advocates interviewed by The Moscow Times.

The soldiers from the Taman and Kantemirovskaya Divisions are stationed in the town of Dolbino 30 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. They have gone without food rations and proper accommodation for the last five days, with soldiers forced to pay out-of-pocket for supplies.

Photos circulating on Russian social media platform VK show dozens of soldiers sleeping on the floor of a tiled room.

The conditions were first noticed after local residents reported an influx of soldiers and conscripts who claimed they had been left at the train station by military officers.

Locals reported providing conscripts with food and water after some recruits claimed to have run out of money.

“We are not sure why, but there was clearly a violation of usual practice,” Svetlana Golub, the head of the Soldiers' Mothers Committee, an NGO that advocates for soldiers’ rights, told The Moscow Times on Monday.

Speaking by phone, Golub said the “nightmare” conditions “were inappropriate, however an investigation is being carried out and now things have been resolved.”

We should immediately invite them all to emigrate to the United States, and sign them up as members of the Democrat Party.

My first thought also. My Marine buddy said...part of training. Said it was brutal.

Fortunately, the US doesn't do this to our precious Trannies and Homos, not that they could survive it and complete their mission to reinforce Biden's Praetorian Guard.

But it is similar to the US Government's Veterans Administration treatment to Retired and Veteran US Military Heroes including wounded and disabled, once they are No Longer Useful to the New Woke Marxist Left US Military.

This was done intentionally. When they start to complain the government will tell them things are much better 30 kilometers to the west.

I don’t know if the Russians are ever that good to their warriors. I toured the Russian sub museum in San Diego. Rough conditions and mediocre food.

Just what I was thinking - they need to find them a parking garage.

This has always made me wonder. Basically Russia, a poor country, is having to pay for a large army that is sitting around doing nothing. They are set to take military action against an even poorer country, the Ukraine. If Russia takes over the Ukraine, how will they afford that? How will the average Russian citizen feel when the body bags start coming home.

Russia is dying.

Not sure how Putin can turn that around.

War does not seem like a good option. Especially the conquest of an even poorer country.

Something else is going on. I am not sure what it is.

Not surprising. Russian military leadership gives very little consideration to the welfare of its soldiers. It was that way in the days of the Soviet Army, the Red Army and the Tsar’s army.
