ROANOKE ISLAND, Friday, Feb. 14, 1862.
The steamer Picket, Capt. J. POYNTON IVES' leaves here, to-day, for Hatteras Inlet, from which dispatches from Gen. BURNSIDE and Flag-Officer GOLDSEOROUGH will be sent immediately to their respective Departments concerning the state of affairs in this Department. Among the passengers who will go by the Picket to Fortress Monroe are Chief-Engineer CHARLES A. HASWELL, who goes on business for the Expedition; Lieut.-Col. BETTS, Major KIMBALL and Lieut. CHIFF, of the Ninth New-York, (Hawkins Zouaves;) Col. KINGSBURY, of the Eleventh Connecticut; Lieut. BRANNON, of the Forty-eighth Pennsylvania; Adjutant DAYTON, of the Fifty-first New-York; Capt. JEPSON, of the Tenth Connecticut, wounded slightly in the head, who is commissioned to carry home the regimental color of the Thirty-first North Carolina Regiment; Lieut. BOWERS, of the gunboat Pioneer, sick with typhoid fever; E.K. DOW, who went out in charge of provisions sent to the loyal people of North Carolina from New-York and elsewhere; twenty-five non-commissioned officers and privates having in charge the bodies of Col. C.L. RUSSELL, Tenth Connecticut; Capt. HENRY, New-Jersey Ninth; Lieut. STILLMAN, Connecticut Tenth; Capt. HUBBARD, Twenty-seventh Massachusetts, who died of typhoid fever; and J.T. BRONSON, Tenth Connecticut, who died Jan. 27, of diphtheria, on board of the steamer New-Brunswick.
The remains of Lieut.-Col. DE MONTEIL were to have come forward with the other four; they will be sent by the next conveyance. A.E. HAND, Purser of the steamer Virginia, has charge of his effects.
Mr. VIZETELLY, artist of the London Illustrated News; Mr. CHOUNCE, of the Cincinnati Commercial; Mr. FITZPATRICK, of the Herald, and Mr. RIPLEY, of the Evening Post, are also passengers.
