Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) showed a five-point lead over Democrat Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke in a hypothetical head-to-head gubernatorial poll from Climate Nexus.
The poll found that 45 percent of the registered Texas voters surveyed said they would vote for Abbott, five percent more than would vote for the Democrat.

I’ve never believed the Kali migrants are conservative. Most are transplanting to the cities, especially in Travis County where the dominant hardcore liberal ideology makes them feel like they’re still on the west coast.
Rick Perry and Abbott are the ones that kept going to California and begging all the companies to move to Texas for the great business climate. Mostly Perry. Now our home prices are so high that Texans can’t afford anything.

You’re one of, if not the only person from Texas that I’ve ever read on here acknowledging that. And the ONLY jobs they recruited were the tech jobs. Wonder what happens when CornPop really gets the H1B visa machine running and they all start losing their jobs to some guy from India.
And at the end of the day it comes down to a circular argument.
They want more tax revenue, that’s what it’s all about but they can’t say that.
So they tell you it’s about the jobs. But when the jobs come the people come the taxes go up. And when the taxes go up sondea the tax revenue. But then they have to spend more to service all the new residents so taxes go up again. And then they have to build more schools, hire more cops firemen teachers, So taxes go up again. And then they tell you your house is worth more after an assessment so your taxes go up again.
Texas has been sold out just like Cali was decades ago. Georgia and Tennessee aren’t far behind.
Except the Democrats don't hold even one major state wide office. The Republicans do. And in the last 12 months, the Republicans continued to win in previously Dem controlled , Latino majority cites/counties like McAllen that Biden won comfortably just a year ago.
But hey just keep living in far left fantasyland.

Then, once the “racism” was made apparent to the readers, proceeded to savage the guy in the comments.

That was depressing. I don’t think we can fix this. The schools are cranking these weirdos out like there’s no tomorrow, and it would take 20 years of sustained effort and a hot war to make them stop. - when we get serious about stopping them is when we find out that they are not going to just politely go away.
What polls do we believe, and what polls don’t we believe? Seriously. I’m confused.
I don’t see Abbott winning against some strong competitors, and considering his disgustingly weak response to the illegal invasion.
The last laugh might be on our side, considering Hispanics have conservative mindsets and are voting MAGA-ish.

They don’t hold any statewide offices in Georgia either. And I’m betting there isn’t too much of a difference in the breakdown between Republicans and Democrats in the state Congress.
But, unlike many that cannot see past the end of their noses, I don’t care about the upcoming election in November. I care about 2024. I care about what happens in ‘26 and further down the road, when the number of liberals that have moved into states like Texas and Georgia because the Governors, et al have this fantasy about luring every job away from every Blue state and, subsequently, bringing all their liberal employees with them.
Again, it isn’t about the number of RED, REPUBLICAN counties in Texas when it comes to Governor, Lt Gov, AG, SOS. It’s about numbers. Pure and simple. When the numbers in the big cities start to climb past the numbers in every place else, Texas is done.
I’ll bet the Republican Party in California or Arizona never thought that its respective state would become and trend like they did/are.
As stated before, this poll could be 100% wrong. If it is, awesome. Try looking down the road a few years and see where the state is trending.

It’s just amazing to me how President Trump showed them all how to stand up and fight, yet so many do not. And all Abbott seems to do is try and follow DeSantis’ lead.
Just imagine if all the states that are Republican, top to bottom, formed a bloc and told CornPop....No mas. Nothing he could do. Nothing the Dem’s could do.
Oh, Schumer and Pelosi will withhold federal funds. Really? We’ll be withholding the taxes we send to DC and spend that money on our own state.

Yup. Both Democrats. Those are statewide offices. Both US Senators from Texas are Republicans.
Except Texas used to be reliably Democrat in the big state wide elections like governor etc, until we took over. The tide has been moving against Democrats for decades.

Funny how, in my opinion, for years, southerners and Texans were looked down on by New Yorkers and Californians as just a bunch of uneducated, redneck hicks, and now here they all are. I guess southerners aren’t as bad as they thought :) Same goes for all the hicks in Florida and Tennessee.
