You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days.  If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

From The Arkansas Gazette

4 minutes good
3 minutes excellent
2 minutes exceptional
90 seconds superior

About five minutes. I started with the most common letter and most common word, but that didn't get me very far. I then got the word after the comma, and that got me the first, second, and fourth words. The rest flowed from there.

The word after the comma worked for me, too.

SVE and VE, for me. The verb in between is obvious.

” What was life before Today’s Cryptogram?”

Retired now after raising 3 kids, teaching 15 years, and running a web development company for over 25 years. So life is at a somewhat leisurely pace. Before discovering Today’s Cryptogram and becoming hooked, I would have started my daily 2 hour music practice right after breakfast….. now I do the cryptogram before music practice and I truly enjoy and look forward to it every day. I save the gardening and long walk for late afternoon. Thank you so much for posting these for us!

The cello?

This is a fun group. In fact I would say of all of the free Republic members by far this is the best bunch.

We all agonize over what happened in 2020 because we know the election was a pure unadultrated fraud and we also know that Trump was probably Heaven sent and what happened was probably for the good in the long run.

The Daily Cryptogram is a diversion that keeps us all together.

Quick one. The fourth word pattern was almost identical to the 2nd word in that super hard poetry one a couple of days ago. I probably spent an hour on that one, so I was happy that something from it paid off on this one.
