A Loyola University student on his way to school robbed a Metra conductor at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon because he was hungry and needed money to get some food before class — and that’s according to his defense attorney.
Brown pulled out a gun and pointed it at the train conductor’s stomach around 2:07 p.m. He allegedly took $110 from the conductor’s pockets on the platform and left the station.
The defense attorney said Brown went to class at Loyola after the hold-up. He encouraged Judge Maryam Ahmad to reflect on her days as a hungry college student as she weighed the state’s request to have Brown held without bail.
That argument didn’t sit well with Ahmad, who said she remembered being a hungry college student, but she never considered pulling a gun on someone and taking their money. She granted the state’s no-bail request.

I would think that $110.00 would buy a mighty fine lunch even in Chicago.
110 bucks is a nice damn lunch.
The lawyer doesn’t have a whole lot to work with. He needs a Sorosite DA that doesn’t consider armed robbery to be a crime.
Some old man and his grandson will pull it out of a Miami canal doing some magnet fishing.
Not robbery, wealth redistribution at gunpoint.
And if an average person, not drunk, politely asked most people. “Forgive me asking, but I am so hungry, can you please loan me a few dollars to find some food? Can I do something for you to earn enough for a meal”. Most people would do so. If one refused, the next would do it.
Also at most every restaurant I’ve ever seen, if some person down on his luck and not just an obvious bum asked if he could clean the parking lot, or carry out the trash or something for a small meal, they would do so mmore often than anyone could believe.
Hunger is no excuse.
Throw his ass in prison.
Live like an animal.
Deserved.
Why?
Get a job while trying to better yourself but not act like an Animal.
In our little rural town there are seven "downtown" churches who rotate serving lunch to the homeless always on the same day each week. Not only do they get a hot lunch, they are given two sandwiches for dinner.
Every bum and freeloader in the southwestern part of the state knows this and how to get to the handouts.
There is no need to ask politely, they just show up. Our little church was part of this until we moved to a new location and someone else took our place.
I just stay out of New Orleans and won’t even go there, anymore, even though it’s the city I was born in. The last tine I was there, I was shocked to see how even further down it went, and yet the people who remain there including family thinks it’s “normal”. Vagrants everywhere, and beggars on every corner. Potholes the size of moon craters.
I got a delivery to Gen Ogden street. Doordash tried to hide the location, and I brought the food back into the restaurant, and had DD unassign it. $5.50 to drive over 20 miles back and forth into a crime infested area.
No business wants to stay there. Lowe’s thought it would give the place a shot, and then quickly closed down in 6 months.
Now, over half the population there is being flooded here into the suburbs with rentals and Sec. 8 housing.
Looks to be a white guy dressed up like a bank robber to ride the trains? Carrying a BB gun. Seems to me he had robbery on his mind when choosing that wardrobe...
Antifa, most likely.
Plus free housing, insurance and most likely a stipend.
Let’s exchange his Four Star lunch for a Four Bars cell door.
I got through college each week with a box of cheerios, a bunch of bananas, and 1 taco pizza (1 slice each day)
Why didn’t he sell the gun to get some money for food?
“Needed $110 for breakfast.”
The famished boy obviously had plans to meet his fellow med students at the Biltmore for breakfast, where a hearty, yuppie breakfast is $100 plus tax.
Scavenged milk crate, stick, and string....caught 20 fat mourning doves before noon with a handful of sunflower seeds as bait.
He is a heavy tipper.
