A swimmer was killed by a shark in a vicious attack filmed by horrified beachgoers Wednesday near Sydney, video shows.
Police said they recovered human remains in the water after emergency crews responded to reports of a great white shark attack at Buchan Point in Malabar about 4:30 p.m. local time.
In the terrifying scene captured by a beachgoer, the shark could be seen thrashing around as the waves turned bright red from the victim’s blood.
“Someone just got eaten by a shark!” a man yelled in the video, adding that the shark was a “big great white.”
“That’s insane.”
A police officer said on the radio: “Footage clearly shows a body, half a body, being taken by a shark,” adding that first responders “found some remains.”

“a nimble car can’t seem to out run a loaded semi on mountainous highways”
Yeah, and in Halloween and Friday the 13th, the killers always catch the victim even though the victims run and the killers only walk. Sometimes you just have to suspend your disbelief.
“You can make jokes or comments about things detached from the sympathy you also feel for the actual victim.”
Gallows humor is completely lost on some people.
“how is it OK to offend people who sympathize with the victim and the family?”
Nobody offends anyone else. You are choosing voluntarily to be offended. Don’t blame someone else for your own free choice.
Do unto others
If it is wrong to hurt and insult the family and friends needlessly then how is it OK to offend people who sympathize with the victim and the family?
...................................................
(1) The person who made the statement that you find offensive may ALSO sympathize with the victim and his friends and family.
(2) The person who made the statement is under no moral obligation to refrain from expressing his thoughts because of the possibility that someone other than the victim’s friends and family might be offended by them. That, as they say, is simply a bridge too far.
Do unto others
Why is that guy fishing near where people are swimming? I thought that was dangerous when sharks are around.
Not only that. But in these small towns in middle America where these slashers happen no one has a rifle or a shotgun in the whole town.

Well played
The car had an overheat condition. Weaver ignored the warning.
The list of things that were hokey in that movie is long.
When the gas station attendant told weaver that his radiator hose looked bad. Weaver blew it off, and went most of the movie without blowing the hose, in which case he could have been long gone.
But the movie portrayed the car as awkward and unable to escape a loaded semi. I remember years ago sitting in my truck at a truck stop one night. The cb ‘community’ was chatting away, and that movie was brought up. To sum it up, truck drivers regard the movie as ridiculous.
One thing that only truck drivers would notice was how agile the ‘loaded’ truck was, yet the trailer bounced and wobbled when going over bumps, indicating it was empty, yet shown to be loaded as it labored to climb hills.
I remember the techniques they used to show the ‘powerful’ semi closing the gap on him down hill and on the level. Slightly speed up the camera, and slightly apply brakes to the car.
I know that if a truck started pushing a car into a passing train, I think most anyone would at the least get out and get clear away of the situation. If it were me getting pushed into the train (as a truck driver), I would have jumped out of the car, hurried to disconnect the semis air lines to the trailer (can be done in a couple seconds). There he would have sat, unless he decided to fight without a truck.
