If it is wrong to hurt and insult the family and friends needlessly then how is it OK to offend people who sympathize with the victim and the family?

(1) The person who made the statement that you find offensive may ALSO sympathize with the victim and his friends and family.
(2) The person who made the statement is under no moral obligation to refrain from expressing his thoughts because of the possibility that someone other than the victim’s friends and family might be offended by them. That, as they say, is simply a bridge too far.
