Need advice flying into Palm Springs area

Posted on 02/14/2022 7:03:34 AM PST by A Cyrenian

I am planning on flying into Palm Springs in a couple of weeks. And I have not gotten any of the recommended shots for the virus.

I checked the California's website as well as Palm Springs and they say they are following the CDC's guidelines.

CDC is saying I'll need to get a viral test as close to the time of departure as possible (no more than 3 days) before you travel.

I plan on being in Palm Spring about 5 days so my initial test would expire. I don't want to chance a test in Palm Springs and be told I have the virus.

Has anyone flown into or departed from Palm Springs recently and are they inspecting travellers for virus documentation?

What a pile of crap. The vaccinated can spread it as well, yet no testing. "Following the Science" indeed.

TSA is doing so at every airport to all ticketed travellers that pass through their security lines.

As far as the airlines go, they are following TSA’s masking requirements. I recently flew from Denver to Atlanta and no requirement to provide vaccination or test.

A Covid test is NOT required for flying domestically in the US. The State of Californistan cannot dictate rules for flying. Once you step into an airport you are under the jurisdiction of the FAA, and even though that means they are mask-Nazis, there is no shot or test requirement. States like Hawaii are getting around the FAA by saying you can come in, but if you don’t have a valid test, we will harass you until you leave by having police check on you every day.

TSA is doing what? I’ve flown Spokane to San Jose, CA a few times and there were no checks of any sort. You just have to wear a mask. They weren’t even checking your temperature.

I don’t think there are any testing/vaccine requirements in place for domestic travel

Some states and cities still have the stupid vax passport/cards and masks rules in place but no requirement for testing to fly.

Not true. For domestic travel, a mask is required, but not a shot or test.

Be safe, get them all. Wear three masks, and get tested morning, noon, and night.

Just tell them you are famous and going to a football game.
Voila, no mask or vax required.

Spent two weeks in Palm Desert & Palm Springs in January.
Live in western Colorado so we drove there (easy 2 day trip).
Can't speak to flying in & out ... so can't shed any light on airport covid protocols. However, other than wearing masks when entering restaurants & businesses most people out & about went mask-less. If you haven't visited the Palm Springs Air Museum (next door to the airport) I would recommend you do ... very well done.

Fly your own plane and you don’t have to do anything

I”m in Palm Springs. As others have stated there is no proof of vaccine to fly domestically. The City of Palm Springs requires proof of vaccination do dine inside any restaurant and mask requirements are still in place. You can dine outside without any proof of vaccination. The other desert cities (Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert etc.) have no vaccination requirements to dine indoors. I second the notion that the Palm Springs Air Museum is well worth a visit, the aerial tramway is good as well.

I’ve been flying all over the country (LAX, HOU, LAS, MDW, PHX, SFO, OAK etc.) as recently as Friday of last week. There is no checking of test or vax status for domestic travel at any US airport.

The Federal “mask mandate” is still in effect once inside the airport and on the plane.

Unless you’re coming in from a non-us location (which is unlikely unless you’re flying private or a charter at Palm Springs), you don’t need to worry about testing.
